👋This past week, Greif interns participated in a week-long immersive intern summit in Delaware, Ohio that provided an introduction to the company, the opportunity to network with many colleagues, and the ability to create meaningful connections with our fellow interns. Firstly, we appreciate the efforts of Tracy Studebaker and Michele Walker, along with countless others in both planning and investing in young talent throughout this summit. During an engaging session and presentation with Chief Human Resources Officer Bala Sathyanarayanan, we received exciting news: GREIF has been selected as one of Newsweek's Top 100 Global Most Loved Workspaces in 2024! Such an accomplishment hardly comes as a surprise, and it is largely due to GREIF’s unique culture. After diving deeper into our conversation with Bala Sathyanarayanan about the building blocks of what distinguishes GREIF, our group wanted to take a moment to reflect on some of those remarkable highlights. During his presentation, Bala introduced six attributes of a highly valued intern: being a business person (no matter your role at the company), leaving your work better than you found it, having a bias for action and following through, being a change leader, being candid and to the point, and being a complex problem solver. Throughout our discussion, we reflected on curiosity regarding our own work and pushing the boundaries and expectations of our role. One key indicator stuck out to us that we wanted to expand on: having a bias for action and following through. To us, this means being consciously change oriented and proactive instead of reactive. It means putting yourself out there even if you are uncomfortable. It means constantly reflecting on our past, energizing others, and asking questions. Being an intern means not just clocking in and getting the job done; it's about pushing boundaries and exceeding expectations by keeping your focus on the bigger picture. The only way to move forward is to get comfortable being uncomfortable. And we are committed to doing just that. Reflecting on the weeks spent at Vosyn has been truly transformative. The challenges were exhilarating, and the experience was invaluable. This journey has not only been inspiring and motivating, but it has also brought out the best in me. I'm certain that Vosyn is the next big thing, and I feel cherished to have dedicated my time and energy to it. My role as a Finance Consultant extended beyond numbers – I took part in onboarding new interns, collaborated seamlessly with teammates and other teams, attended Vosyn All-Hands and team leader meetings. The interactions were marked by open dialogue and collaborative problem-solving, fostering a shared commitment to deepening my understanding of innovation and the financial landscape. Here are a few one-liners Brian often mentions that I love! 1. Challenge your assumptions just like you challenge data. 2. You can't lead from behind the curtain. 3. Trust in the process and embrace it. 4. Not everything is learned from the playbook. 5. Inter-weave your thoughts and be a collective force. 6. Hug your problems. 7. You deserve to extract the most from this opportunity. 8. You have 6 garbage cans and 5 lids. (Interpretation: Through this example, Brian encouraged resourcefulness, creativity, and adaptability, emphasizing that success is about making the most of what we have and finding innovative solutions together.) As I bid farewell, I leave with a heart full of gratitude for the warmth, mentorship, and camaraderie that defined my internship. This wholesome experience has not only enhanced my financial acumen but also instilled in me a profound sense of responsibility and collaboration that will undoubtedly shape my future endeavors. I am deeply grateful for the trust placed in me by Brian Armstrong and Andil Houlder, the founders of Vosyn, who consistently showed faith in my capabilities. Being guided by them during my first internship was a blessing. Their encouragement and support fuelled my passion for Finance, making each day a learning opportunity. #Vosyn will always be a part of me. Here's to the memories made and the exciting paths that lie ahead. Looking forward to crossing paths again. Until then, onward and upward! #Vosyntothemoon

After my first internship at W. L. Gore & Associates, I knew I'd found a special culture, but didn't know what made it special. Now having worked for over a dozen large companies with Innosight, I have deep appreciation for how culture drives innovation, and how to practically drive culture change within an organization. With this summer coming to a close, I thought I would take some time to reflect and update my network on my time as an intern with Insight Global! First and foremost, I want to thank Elisabeth Trecek, Amanda Wang, and Brooke Adams for welcoming me with open arms to the IGB Chicago team and giving me all the guidance necessary to fulfill my duties as an R1 intern. Next, I have to thank Angelica Toporis and Jordan Waller for helping me through the initial processes of learning more about IG, and if this position would be a good fit for myself. Finally, I can't give enough thanks to the other members of my team for treating me as if I were a full-time employee from day one. I made great friendships, and I hope my time at Insight Global impacted them as much as it has impacted me. Always know where you stand. This is one of IG's five shared values and the one that spoke in the greatest volume to me. This summer, I learned that when you work for Insight Global, you're working for not just yourself, but for your team. As I mentioned previously, though I was an intern, I was treated like a full-time employee and had to follow the same processes as one. I had to build trust with Account Managers above me, as well as lean on recruiters around me to fill the roles Account Managers had open. At times, roles were reversed and I was the recruiter being leaned on for some help when someone entered a cold spell. I also learned, just like anything else in life, you can have good days and bad days; and wow do the good days outweigh the bad ones! As a recruiter in the staffing industry, there is a lot that is out of your control. Though people may be in the job market, they still have to answer your calls and emails in order to kindle the relationship and begin to move in the right direction toward finding them a job. Ultimately, I wanted to be the best advocate for them during this process, so at times this got very frustrating. However, my desire to succeed is what kept me motivated throughout my eight weeks with Insight Global. Not only was this the busiest summer I've had, but it was also one that had the greatest impact on me personally, professionally, and financially as we say at Insight Global. I learned that I have a bright future ahead of me and I will succeed in the professional world. I just have to keep grinding, stay hungry, and continue to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Now it's time to finish my college career with the Purdue Center for Professional Selling, and see what the future holds! #InsightGlobal #intern2023 #reflection

📅 As we edge closer to 2024, my caricature seems to be staring, jaw-dropped, into the heart of corporate absurdity. Who knew a simple T-shirt could represent the complex geopolitics of our times? And those monsters in the back? Clearly, the market disruptors of our impending future are ready to devour the status quo. But fear not, for change is the only constant in our cosmic job description—crafted by the ultimate CEO of the Universe. We are but humble interns in this grand corporate ladder of life, where reflecting on the 'why' of our daily grind is as existential as it gets. Let's ensure our KPIs include not just profitability but purpose, not just equity in shares but also in justice. May our strategies be as dynamic as the changing world, and our business attire always be ready for the unexpected twists of the fiscal year. Here's to embracing the chaos with a smirk, knowing that every challenge is just another bullet point on the resume of our careers and souls. #Satire #BusinessAsUnusual #CosmicInternship #DisruptTheDisruptors #FutureReady
