Hello everyone! Meet Colleen Wallace, Phoenix’s Finance Director in this Employee Spotlight. What is your role alt Phoenix? My name is Colleen Wallace. I’m the Finance Director at Phoenix. My role at Phoenix consists of managing and producing financial forecasting and budgeting, as well as all financial reporting for our clients. I review over 1,000 invoices monthly to ensure they are accurate based on a multitude of factors. I oversee and manage payroll and generate and send client monthly invoices. How long have you been with Phoenix? My 10-year anniversary with Phoenix is coming this July. I have had many roles within Phoenix, beginning as an administrative assistant, scheduler, office manager and now Finance Director. I was privileged to work closely with Bill Martin, the founder of Phoenix Language Services, Inc. for six years. I will always be grateful for the knowledge he shared with me regarding the financial aspects of the interpreting industry, but most importantly, I value the respect and appreciation he fostered within me for the world of language and the individuals who bridge the gap to support the limited-English proficient and deaf-or-hard of hearing populations. What does language access mean to you? Working at Phoenix has opened my eyes to the importance of providing limited-English proficient (LEP) individuals the same access to quality care that non-LEP individuals would receive. Through the provision of quality language access services, an LEP individual can understand and can make informed decisions about their health and welfare.
