🚀Funding approved for two more technology transfer centers for Switzerland in the field of #advancedmanufacturing! The Advanced Manufacturing Technology Transfer Centers (AM-TTC) initative is backed by the Swiss federal government and aims to establish and make accessible infrastructures that will enable the Swiss industry to learn about, try out and transfer new manufacturing technologies into their production. The new centers are: 1️⃣ The Swiss Cobotics Competence Center (S3C) in Biel aims to demonstrate the opportunities of collaboration between humans and #robots and close the gap between the theoretical capabilities of robots and industrial reality. 2️⃣ The Swiss Photonics Center (Swiss PIC) at the Swiss Innovation Park InnovAare. The focus of this center is on optical components and systems that transport and process light particles, so-called #photons and their integration into larger systems or devices. The AM-TTC Alliance was founded in 2019 at #Empa in Dübendorf. Members include institutions of the ETH Domain, universities of applied sciences and other research institutions, industrial companies such as ABB, BASF, Bühler Group, Hilti Group, Oerlikon, ROLEX and Siemens, as well as the industrial association Swissmem. I recently came across edacentrum, an initiative fostering collaboration in electronics, design, and applications within Germany. As an independent entity, it drives research and development across the value chain, benefiting both the microelectronics industry and its user industries. What impresses me is their role in coordinating publicly funded R&D projects in Electronic Design Automation, and in facilitating the sharing of expertise between industry and academia. The edacentrum's efforts in organizing conferences and building platforms for knowledge exchange highlight the importance of collaborative development in technology. Green approach to aerospace 🌱 Celebrating an emphasis on sustainability and digitization, the Spanish research center, Ideco aims to display advanced manufacturing processes that squeeze down the environment's burden of aerospace production at JEC World. At the global trade show for composite materials and their applications JEC World from March 5-7, 2024, in Paris/France, Ideko, Eldoibar/Spain, plans to present its technological offering for composite manufacturing, based on 2 fundamental pillars sustainability and digitization. The objective centers around automating and boosting efficiency levels in aerospace production through the application of cutting-edge technologies and innovations. The center's showcase is being set up at SpainPavilionV in front of the “Mobility Planet”. The key highlight of the exhibit will include Idekos's acquired expertise through various European research projects and show them in action via advanced composite manufacturing processes. The European Union-funded initiative, the “Infinite” project led by IDEKO, focuses on creating digitally sensorized aerospace composites. These are designed to help monitor manufacturing components and their structural health throughout their lifecycle.
