🌊 Today we celebrate World Water Day! This occasion reminds us that water is the foundation of life, and we must do everything in our power to protect our precious water resources. Let's not forget that water loss is a serious issue, and it is our collective responsibility to reduce it and safeguard our waters for future generations. 💧🌍 "Water can create peace, but it can also be a source of conflicts. When scarce or contaminated, when people have to struggle for access, it can lead to serious tensions. Collaboration is essential for a fairer distribution of water, contributing to the establishment of peace." www.waterscope.eu #worldwaterday #waterislife #water #waterloss #watermanagement #smartsolutions #energyefficiency

As we celebrate World Water Day today, we are invited to reflect on the theme of " Leveraging Water for Peace". Water, the essence of life, has the power to unite communities, cultures and countries, laying the foundations for cooperation, understanding and harmony. In a world where water scarcity and disparities in access can be a source of tension and conflict, it is essential to recognize water's role as a vehicle for peace. Ensuring equitable access to clean, safe water is not just about meeting a basic human need, but also about building resilient, peaceful communities where every individual can flourish. On this World Water Day, let's champion the cause of using water as a tool for peace. Let us commit ourselves to adopting water management practices that take into account the needs and opinions of all, especially the most vulnerable. By doing so, we not only secure water for our future, but also lay the foundations for lasting peace. #worldwaterday #waterforpeace #sustainability #waterforall

🌳💦 Did you know, trees play a critical role when it comes to supplying, purifying, and protecting freshwater. Trees act like sponges that absorb water when it is plentiful and release it over time, recharging groundwater supplies. Just another benefit of trees! ✏️ Help us save our trees to save our future: https://lnkd.in/gU68sU94

💧🕊 Today, on World Water Day, we talk about leveraging water for peace. Water can create peace or spark conflict. As a human right, we must balance everyone’s water needs. Here at RWSN - Rural Water Supply Network, we are committed to the vision of a world in which all people enjoy safely managed water services that are resilient and sustainable. We strive to connect individual professionals and organisations dedicated to rural water supply. In the last few days, we discussed with you this year's theme of Water and Peace. Here are some facts we got from the discussion: 🚰 703 million people worldwide are lacking basic drinking water services. Out of them, 550 million live in rural areas. 🏞 Water often plays a role in conflict. The majority of those who voted think that water becomes a trigger in conflict more often than a weapon or a casualty. 🌍 Water can be a stabilizing force and a catalyst for peace at all governance levels. The opinion on who plays a bigger role in fulfilling people’s human right to water is split between water users at the local level and governments at the global level. Make sure to learn more about the role of water in creating peace and some things you can do here: https://lnkd.in/dJfzbmRw Skat Foundation #WorldWaterDay #ruralwater #waterandpeace

As plumbers, we think about water every day! On this World Water Day, we wanted to share some facts with you that might seem crazy: - 2.2B people still live without safely managed drinking water, including 115M people who drink surface water (WHO/UNICEF, 2023). - Roughly half of the world’s population is experiencing severe water scarcity for at least part of the year (IPCC, 2022) - Only 0.5% of water on Earth is useable and available freshwater - More than 3B people worldwide depend on water that crosses national borders, but out of 153 countries that share rivers, lakes and aquifers with their neighbors, only 24 report having cooperation agreements for shared water (UN, 2024) We all have a part to play…as individuals, families, and communities, we can use water more carefully, and hold our elected officials and companies accountable for responsible and safe water use. As the demand for water continues to rise, it is crucial to identify and implement sustainable solutions that address water scarcity in the near and long term. We were excited to share in our monthly eNews an article about Sonoma County Water Agency’s groundwater recharge project. They have a fantastic new program that will repurpose existing production wells (gray infrastructure) to capture and redirect excess water resources during periods of high precipitation. By doing so, they can maximize the potential of these wells and significantly contribute to the replenishment of local aquifers. Read more about how using gray and green infrastructure can help us better adapt to droughts and water emergencies in our latest eNews: https://lnkd.in/gy5H3eu5 #ClimateSolutions #SonomaCounty
