Embracing #diversity and striving for inclusivity also means recognizing key historical moments that have shaped our world. 🌍 Last week, our #RealPeopleOfClariant in Charlotte & Mount Holly, USA, celebrated #Juneteenth, a pivotal moment in American history. 🇺🇸 Our colleagues set up a gallery wall with information on Juneteenth’s history, key facts, influential leaders, and shared soul food meals together. 🍽️ Coming together to reflect on this significant day reminds us of the progress made and renews our commitment to building a more equitable society. 🤝 ❤️💛💚🧡🖤 #WeLiveTheDifference #GreaterChemistry

Taking note of how easy our “togetherness” is unraveling—data for what the work is in 2024 as leaders, interveners, creators and as human beings. The world is inviting us to hold the whole of it—bringing all of the resources of our lived experiences. Our collective unattended to bias, internalized “isms” and cultural/historic unfinished business has left its hiding place—nothing can be bound forever. And this is cumulative. Racial equity without attending to the function of race in a system doesn’t work. Ignoring the invitation of intersectionality to support intervening in human systems (at every level of system) doesn’t work. Centering “historically marginalized groups” without understanding the motivating energies of whiteness/maleness and the seductions of privilege (across any and every social group identity) doesn’t work—including the global stage. You’re not “sharing power” if you’re not willing to reveal where the power actually lives. You can’t take anybody someplace you’ve never been—and then celebrate a “win” for change. This is the year of doing the deep healing of “you” in service of the leadership that is required. Let’s go. 📸: Elizabeth Catlett “Harriet”(1975)

Juneteenth, celebrated on June 19th, marks a pivotal moment in American history when the last enslaved African Americans were finally informed of their freedom in 1865. This day not only commemorates the end of an inhumane chapter but also embodies the essence of leadership and vision. True leaders, like those who fought tirelessly for emancipation, possess the courage to envision a future rooted in equality, justice, and human dignity. Their steadfast commitment inspires us to continue striving for a more inclusive and fair society. Reflecting on Juneteenth, we are reminded that leadership is not merely about holding a position of power but about the relentless pursuit of a better world. Visionary leaders see beyond the present, recognizing the potential for growth, healing, and unity. They understand that progress requires both acknowledging past injustices and actively working to dismantle systemic barriers that persist today. As we honor Juneteenth, let us draw inspiration from the leaders who paved the way for freedom and equality. Their legacy challenges us to embrace our own roles as leaders and visionaries in our communities. By fostering inclusivity, advocating for justice, and championing the rights of all, we can contribute to a brighter, more equitable future for generations to come. #JuneteenthCelebration #EmbraceLeadership #EqualityAndJustice #VisionaryLeaders

Allyship is undoubtedly a journey. Jennifer Brown Consulting understands how to build bridges of support and understanding to their clients. #allyship #InternationalAllyshipDay
Happy International Allyship Day! This holiday dedicates the day to celebrating and promoting the power of #allyship across the globe. On this unique day, we come together to recognize the importance of standing up for one another, fostering inclusivity, and building bridges of support and understanding. I often say allyship is not a destination, it is a journey. Allyship does not happen on its own, it is a conscious action that one continuously strives for on a daily basis. Allyship is not about knowing or having all the answers, it’s about showing up bravely and imperfectly. The courage to be imperfect is difficult for many, myself included, but in order to do this work, we need to embrace vulnerability. Allyship is a journey of constant learning and relearning, molding and unmolding our perceptions and behaviors. Allies not only get comfortable being uncomfortable but also use that discomfort to listen and learn. Remember: We don’t self-proclaim allyship. You are only an ally if someone from an affected community calls you one. https://lnkd.in/eAanb44t Tagging a few allies I know are also invested in amplifying the important message of allyship today, and every day: Kim Graham Lee •Jennifer Kahnweiler Ph.D. CSP, Julie Kratz, Gabrielle Claiborne, Meg Warren, Ph.D., Dr. Nika White, CDE®, IOM, Brad Johnson, David Smith, Jeffery Tobias Halter, Gender Strategist #IAD #AllyshipinAction #InternationalAllyshipDay

We're thrilled to announce that Dr. Leland Harper, a renowned Canadian philosopher and distinguished authority on race and religion, will be joining us as a guest speaker at The New Face of Inclusion Summit 2023! 🎉 Dr. Harper's ground-breaking research and work, particularly his insights on the language of race-based situations, have revolutionized our understanding of institutional and interpersonal racism. His recent co-authored text, 'Racist, Not Racist, Antiracist: Language and the Dynamic Disaster of American Racism,' illuminates these topics further. Currently serving as an Associate Professor of Philosophy, Race, Justice, and Equity Studies at Siena Heights University, and as editor of the Philosophy of Race book series at Vernon Press, Dr. Leland Harper brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our summit. We can't wait for his session, "The Art of Inclusive Influence: Inspiring Others to Embrace Diversity". Given Leland's profound insights and expertise, this promises to be a transformative discussion that will challenge us to rethink our perspectives on inclusion. In human history, classic paradoxes act like bright dots connecting together the colorful patterns of diversity and inclusion. From the meaningful silence that speaks unspoken truths to the successful triumph that demands change and reinvention - these puzzling stories reflect not just one culture but how all human experiences are woven into our workplaces and societies. My exploration of these paradoxes in Volume 1 and now attached Volume 2 only briefly uncovered their deep layers. - Are we like the blind men feeling just parts of the elephant, missing the whole picture? - How do our individual viewpoints shape our combined understanding of diversity's kaleidoscope of patterns? Whether you connect with one culture or celebrate many, these lessons speak to universal human yearnings while also highlighting the personal journeys we each walk. For me, I celebrate them all as a human should. Let's continue to challenge our perspectives and broaden our horizons. Maybe together, we will discover that by embracing complexity, we can uncover simpler truths about ourselves and each other. What puzzling stories about diversity and inclusion have you experienced? Share your tales, insights, and philosophical wanderings. Interweaving our experiences can untangle the threads connecting us all while using some complex words where needed. #DiversityAndInclusion #Multiculturalism #ParadoxesOfInclusion #Leadership #OrganizationalCulture
