🤗 Meet our hackathon winners 🤗 What advice do they have for other data scientists and what motivated them to dive into responsible data science? We interviewed them to find out. 👇🏽 Dhruv Agarwal is a third-year B.Tech student at IIT Guwahat and finished 3rd in our last Harvard/OpenDP hackathon. Here’s what he had to share: 🦾 Motivation Participating in this competition motivated me to apply machine learning skills to solve a real-world challenge. It offers an opportunity to work with complex datasets, address privacy concerns, and improve accuracy. 🧐 Approach My focus was on exploring different approaches, understanding the intricacies of various privacy-preserving libraries, actively engaging with privacy concepts, and gaining hands-on experience with diverse data scenarios. This learning process involved experimenting with different methodologies to effectively address the challenge at hand, ensuring a well-informed and adaptive strategy for the competition. 🤝🏼 Advice To all budding data scientists out there, my advice is simple: Stay curious, be patient with learning, and keep evolving. Just wrapped up an electrifying machine learning hackathon at GPREC and it was an unforgettable experience! This hackathon challenged me to push my boundaries and leverage machine learning to tackle real-world problems within a set time frame. The GPREC Hackathon offered: Intense Problem-Solving: Collaborated with a team to brainstorm, design, and develop a machine learning solution for [mention the problem statement or theme of the hackathon, if known]. Learning by Doing: Gained practical experience in applying machine learning techniques and building models. Networking Opportunities: Connected with fellow machine learning enthusiasts and mentors from GPREC. This hackathon has: Sharpened my problem-solving skills with a machine learning approach. 🚀 Excited to share that officially I've just wrapped up an incredible journey being the 4th in the International Machine Unlearning Competition hosted by Google! 🎉 It's been three months of exhilarating challenges, continuous development, and sheer dedication. Competing with over 1000 top-tier ML researchers teams worldwide was an absolute honor. 🌐 Throughout the competition, I had the chance to delve deep into a machine-learning research question that has always intrigued me, on which I authored a scientific paper as well. The result was a culmination of hard work and commitment that I'm proud to present. 👑 Special thanks to Eleni Triantafillou, Fabian Pedregosa, Isabelle Guyon, Sergio Escalera, Gintare Karolina Dziugaite, Peter Triantafillou, Vincent Dumoulin, Ioannis Mitliagkas, Meghdad Kurmanji, Kairan ZHAO, Peter Kairouz for orchestrating an extraordinary competition that not only challenged but empowered me to bring one of my passion projects to life.
