One month to go to the Paris Olympics/パリ五輪まであと1カ月 From 26 July to 11 August 2024, the 33rd Olympic Games will be held in and around Paris, France. This will be the third time that the Olympic Games will be held in Paris, following 1900 and 1924. The Games will feature 329 events in 32 sports, and the River Seine, which flows through the centre of Paris, will be the setting for the opening ceremony. In addition to skateboarding, sport climbing, and surfing, which were new events at the Tokyo Olympics, breakdancing is the new event of interest. Breakdancing is a street dance that originated in the South Bronx area of New York, USA, in the 1970s; it appeared at the Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires in 2018 and will finally be taking place at the Olympics. Breakdancing at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games will consist of two male and two female disciplines, with 16 B-Boys and 16 B-Girls competing in solo battles. The athletes will improvise their moves to the DJ's tracks, combining different techniques. Why not take a look at the new additions to the breakdancing? https://lnkd.in/dxreBMic For Employers: https://lnkd.in/eCYBVrq For Job Seekers: https://lnkd.in/eSKP_it #recruitment #recruitmentlife #japanese #japaneselanguage #jobsineurope #HumanResource #Future #Futurism #Careers #Markets #Economy

Breaking tradition - which will be the most popular sports in this summer’s Olympics? If you’re at all interested in the Olympics, you’ll probably have heard of a few new sports cropping up in recent years. Surfing🏄, skateboarding🛹, and sport climbing🧗 all made their Olympic debut in Tokyo, whilst breaking (breakdancing🕺) will be featured in Paris this summer. Although these additions haven’t yet gained the widespread popularity of many traditional Olympic sports, they’ve hit the mark with younger generations. This will be music to the ears of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), who added these sports specifically to engage with these age groups. So, which Olympic sports will be most popular at Paris 2024? A recent GWI report has looked to answer that very question, so I thought I’d share a few highlights… Swimming 🏊♂️, football⚽️, and gymnastics🤸 are the most popular disciplines, with around half of all Olympic fans planning to follow them this summer. Breaking ranked 27th, whilst surfing came in at 14th out of the 31 sports surveyed. Meanwhile, skateboarding led the way amongst newer Olympic sports, ranking in an impressive 13th position. Segmenting Olympic fans by age group unlocks a deeper level of insight. Gen Z and millennials are the generations most likely to follow skateboarding, surfing, breaking, and sport climbing respectively, which suggests the IOC’s strategy to attract younger fans to The Games is working. Meanwhile, Gen X and baby boomers are more interested than average in following traditional sports like gymnastics and athletics. To see a generational analysis of the top 10 most anticipated sports for the Paris 2024 Olympics, see the chart below… Which sport will you be following this summer? ⚽️🏀🏈⚾️🎾🏐🏓 #olympics #sports #insights #gwi

Such a great read & extremely relevant to Paralympic Snowboarding. The IPC claims the Paralympics are not a factor in developing sports however without the sport being in the Paralympics there’s no funding, sport resources, or programs. We are seeing this with the women’s Upper limb & Lower Limb 1 snowboarding. https://lnkd.in/g9CXPNZe

Sports Research & Insights | Data Science (in progress) | Member of the Leaders Club (Leaders in Sport)
🏅 100 days to the International Olympic Committee – IOC Olympic Games #Paris2024 🎉 So let’s take a look at what people have their eyes on this year. When it comes to excitement about the Olympics, male (55%), Gen X (54%) fans are the groups carrying the torch, but their other counterparts aren’t too far behind. And among those actively following the events, Brazilian fans are the most likely group to be tuning in live (67%), Japanese fans are most likely to have their eyes on the highlights (54%), while those in the Philippines are most likely to engage with athletes and sports networks on social media (21%). By market, sports interest also varies across the board. Though soccer, swimming, and athletics are the fan favorites in 9 of the 12 markets we tracked, basketball takes the lead in the Philippines (59%), while badminton draws fans in Malaysia (64%). Gen Z will also help turn the spotlight on more emerging sports (or format) with some of the biggest over-indices being attributed to Break Dancing (IDX 1.22 vs average Gen.Pop.), Surfing (IDX 1.17), Skateboarding (IDX 1.16) and 3x3 Basketball (IDX 1.15). Whichever sports are attracting the most eyes, they’ll be alongside some of the biggest brands in the spotlight. When compared to the Tokyo Summer Olympics in 2020, the number of consumers who say that Airbnb is a well-suited partner for the Olympics has climbed by 62% since 2021, a big increase from the pandemic-disrupted Tokyo games. Other big increases included mainstay sponsors Visa (+42%), Bridgestone EMEA (+40%), and Procter & Gamble(+34%). This year, Visa (49%) takes the lead by favorability as the top sponsor of choice for those in the US and UK, followed by The Coca-Cola Company (48%).

Israeli startup EyeCan tech is developing the smart headband, which alerts swimmers in real time whenever they move from the center of their lane or are approaching an obstacle. Ziv Better, a nine-time Paralympic swimming medalist who lost nearly all of his eyesight during his service in the Israel Defense Forces, is no stranger to doing laps virtually blind. But now the new vibrating headband device is giving him what he says is an added sense of security every time he enters the pool. Amit Fisher, CEO and co-founder of EyeCan, says this is an essential product for the blind or visually impaired swimmer, as there is currently no technological solution allowing them to swim independently. #visuallyimpaired #blind #blindcommunity #swimming #israelinnovation #israelitech #headband #swimmingaid #techsolutions #specialneedssupport

After winning back-to-back gold medals at the 2006 and 2010 Winter Olympics, Shaun White was the favorite to win gold at the 2014 games in Sochi. But...White didn't even podium. After the disappointing performance, White tried to figure out what he did wrong, and he realized... “It was nothing to do with snowboarding,” he said. The qualifying runs took place 4 and a half hours before the Olympic finals. In those qualifiers, Shaun scored a 95.75, which turned out to be the highest score of the night. “I had the winning cards,” as he put it. “I just couldn't put them down when it mattered most.” “So it wasn't physical,” he said. “It was mental.” Before his final run, Shaun said he knew that he was going to lose, that he wasn't going to be able to put down his winning cards. He was overly focused on winning, on the medal, on the external expectations—and as a result, Shaun said, “My mind was just not in a good place.” He finished 4th, and after the games, “I picked apart my personal life away from the snow. I picked apart things that were upsetting me: how I was portrayed online and in ads. Do I like who I'm working with? When was the last time I spoke to my brother? When was the last time I hung out with my friends? When was the last time I worked out? Those are the things I started to change in my life. It was nothing to do with snowboarding.” After Sochi, Shaun started working out regularly, “not for the physical benefits, but because I know after a good work out, I'm happier.” He deleted most of the photos on his instagram, “because I didn't like all the old photos of me with the long hair.” He reconnected with his brother. He prioritized spending time with his friends. “I made all these changes that made me a more complete, happier person,” Shaun explained, “And then once I went back to snowboarding, I was just a happier guy on the snowboard.” Fast forward to the 2018 Olympics: “it was a deja vu of the moment at the previous Olympics in Sochi.” Just like in 2014, at the 2018 games in PyeongChang, it came down to Shaun’s final run. “But this time, at the top of the pipe, I had the complete opposite feeling. I had this overwhelming confidence that I was about to win.” Indeed, Shaun put down one of the best runs of his life, scoring a 97.75 to reclaim the gold. Takeaway 1: After Sochi, Shaun read the tennis player Andre Agassi's autobiography, “Open.” “The part of the book that I enjoyed the most,” Shaun explained, “was that once he stopped making tennis his whole life, once he started prioritizing his family and his friends and his foundation—he actually played better.” The famous line is, “Fools learn from experience. I prefer to learn from the experience of others.” Learning from Agassi, Shaun stopped making snowboarding his whole life, and once he did, he actually performed better. Takeaway 2: Due to the word count limit, takeaway 2 is in the comments below!

News from ONETEAM El Salvador - "November set to make history for sport in Central America. For the first time ever, El Salvador will be competing in both International Para Surf and Para Nordic Ski events sanctioned by the International Surf Association and International Ski Federation. "Our privately funded nonprofit introduced para surfing to the country several years ago and now we're going to do the same with para nordic ski racing," says Robert Powers, co-founder along with Sean Colgan of ONETEAMSV.org, he adds, "We have two young men who became paralyzed after being shot in separate incidents by Salvadoran gang members several years ago. Today, instead of being depressed and feeling somewhat helpless, they are pursuing the Olympic/Paralympic Dream and making history for their country." El Salvador has competed in both the Olympic and Paralympics for many years in the summer Games, but, no athlete has ever represented the country in both the summer and winter games - this ONETEAM El Salvador project intends to change this fact and do it with Paralympic athletes. "The International Olympic Committee is well aware of what we are doing and through their sport governing bodies of Surf and Ski we have received wonderful support in establishing our ESA Para Surf and Ski Team," says Powers. To date the effort has been exclusively funded by 5 families. For information on how individuals, businesses and foundations can join these families in supporting the effort please contact: oneteamsv.org New in 2024, over 60 thousand additional funding dollars have been committed by the families to be used as dollar for dollar matching funds for those who can join the effort. Please join us in helping these athletes continue to eliminate barriers while paving the way for inclusion for persons with disabilities here in Central America." ** All donations are tax deductible via our USA 501c3 ONETEAMCF.org or ESA ONG ONETEAMSV.org - both NGO's operate on less than 3% administrative costs annually. Please join our effort and double your contribution today!
