Job Series that Support Investigations and Operations: Analysts help drive investigations. At NCIS, our analytical team can be found under two job series, 1805 and 0132. The following defines their jobs and how we use them at NCIS: 1805 - Investigative Analysis Series: This series covers positions that involve conducting investigations, analyzing information, and producing intelligence reports related to national security, law enforcement, and other sensitive areas. Employees in this series may work for agencies such as NCIS, DHS, DEA, or other intelligence and law enforcement organizations. Typical job titles include Intelligence Analyst, Investigative Analyst, and Criminal Investigative Analyst. The work involves gathering, analyzing, and disseminating information to support investigations and decision-making processes. 0132 - Intelligence Series: This series encompasses positions involving collecting, analyzing, and disseminating intelligence information related to national security and foreign relations. Employees in this series may work for agencies that are a part of the Intel Community.  Typical job titles include Intelligence Officer, Intelligence Research Specialist, and Intelligence Operations Specialist. The work involves using various intelligence-gathering methods, analyzing complex information, and producing intelligence reports to support policymakers and national security decision-making. While both series involve intelligence and analysis work, the 1805 series focuses more on investigations and law enforcement, while the 0132 series is centered on foreign intelligence and national security. Regardless of the job series, their roles are to support, advise, and provide actionable intelligence to investigators and stakeholders.
