I found some recent discussions, where people have been discouraging early-stage startups from outsourcing non-core functionalities. However, I still hold the belief that early-stage startups should be encouraged to outsource functions in which they lack expertise. For example, your team may excel in last-mile deliveries, but developing an effective marketing and PR strategy may not be your area of expertise. By outsourcing non-core functions to experts in those respective areas, startups can tap into the knowledge and skills of professionals who are best suited for the job. Similarly, a logistics startup may have a strong foundation in logistics planning and execution, but they may not possess the necessary knowledge and experience in risk mitigation and crisis management. In such cases, it is crucial to acknowledge that certain fields require the specialized expertise of professionals. Early-stage startups often face resource constraints and may not have the luxury of conducting trial and error experiments when selecting reliable vendors. In such situations, I highly recommend seeking out partners rather than treating vendors as mere transactional service providers. Building strong relationships and partnerships with trusted experts allows startups to confidently outsource their non-core operations, knowing that they are in capable hands. Ultimately, the key is to leverage the strengths and expertise of professionals in order to maximize the startup's potential. By allowing specialists to handle what they are best at, startups can focus on their core competencies and drive growth and success.
