The speakers have been selected for KCDC 2024 and what a competitive year it has been! We want to share with you how we did the selection process. A thread: Selected speaker stats: 588 speakers submitted 1900 talks 30 volunteer track content evaluators 100+ hours evaluating 148 speakers accepted 180 talks scheduled 15 content tracks 27% female/non-binary 21% non-white minorities 17% traveling internationally 10% chance of selection KCDC runs blind evaluations with an evaluation committee of several people assigned to each track. This means your name is removed from your abstract and put up against 3 other randomized sessions in the track and the evaluator selects the session they'd want to see the most. The title and abstract are absolutely crucial here. An evaluator continues until they have all sessions ranked in the track. All evaluations are combined and ranked to establish an average score per track. Evaluators may provide comments to explain any nuance in their rankings. Sessions are finalized by the organizing team, respecting the ranking the evaluation committee did. Tracks have 6-15 slots based on trends and attendance. At this phase, speaker names are revealed on their session, with 30 sessions per page listed for the track (up to 10 pages!) Knowing individual speakers is important because it: A) Vets the qualifications of the speaker for the subject B) Ensures a speaker is not assigned too many talks C) Reveals if the talk was given before D) Allows intentional, diverse representation, geography, and experience So many excellent speakers this year, many of whom have joined us in the past - did not get accepted THIS TIME. Abstracts must rank high blindly to even make it to the first page, and if several speakers ranked high on the same subject matter, we had to only choose one. 440 speakers were not accepted. Two of our organizers discuss the process: https://t.ly/V7f3b If you didn't get selected this year, we assure you, that we want you to submit next year! The evaluation committee is different each time, and the industry needs different voices. Please come as an attendee for this year. It's your voice in the halls that makes this a community event worth putting on. ❤️ Congrats to our 2024 speakers - we'll see you in Kansas City in June! #kcdc2024

Osteopath M.Sc. D.O. ✦ Author of "Futurize Yourself " ✦ Wellbeing Futurist ✦ Speaker ✦ Founder "The Reaset Approach" ✦ Space Enthusiast ✦ TEDx Organiser
Fingers crossed 🤞that the idea I've submitted for a panel discussion at the Dubai Future Forum on the topic "Optimising Health: A Balancing Act Between Biology and Culture" will be selected. The panel idea I proposed will be moderated by Steven Lichty and the members are Aida Noor, Umar Sheraz, myself Tom Meyers and hopefully ☀️Maneesh Juneja. As a framework, we will be using Professor Sohail Inayatullah's Causal Layered Analysis (CLA) foresight approach. By employing CLA—a four-level sensemaking foresight method—we will explore the immediate understanding of the issue, which concerns the increasing number of people struggling with their physical and mental health in a fast-changing world. We will examine the causes that create and sustain these challenges, shed light on the various perspectives that shape them, and uncover the underlying narratives that might be driving them. #futurizeyourself #dubaifutureforum #optimizinghealth #mentalhealth #change #resileince DUBAI FUTURE FOUNDATION
Three more days to go to for your submission!! Whether it's a keynote, panel discussion, workshop, or something entirely new, we want to hear what you can bring to the table. Tell us more via the link here https://lnkd.in/dKVagM2p . The deadline for submissions is 20 June. #DubaiFutureForum #DubaiFutureForum2023

Change is the heartbeat of growth in the live event industry. GCMA member, Bryan Huneycutt - PhD Candidate, MTA's latest piece urges us to question the age-old refrain: "But we've always done it that way." As he wisely puts it, "While tradition and experience have their merits, clinging to the familiar can stymie innovation and growth." The article delves deep into the pitfalls of complacency and how these can impact the live events industry. 🚫 How NOT to Host an IS Panel (Our way of reminding you - panel submissions are due March 11th) 🚫 1. Monologue Marathon: Ensure each panelist speaks for so long, attendees can watch their entire professional life flash before their eyes. 2. Prep-Free Zone: Skip the prep! Real excitement comes from watching panelists squirm when asked about topics they've never heard of. 3. The Jargon Jungle: Use as much obscure jargon as possible. If someone understands what's being said, you're doing it wrong. 4. No Questions, Please: Who needs audience engagement? Keep the Q&A session purely hypothetical to maintain an aura of mystery. 5. Tech Glitches Galore: Ensure the audio cuts out every few minutes. Bonus points if the presentation slides are from a completely different conference. Now that you're well-versed in what NOT to do, it's your turn to shine and show us how it's done right. Submit your proposals to the panels track at ECIS 2024 and contribute to a lively, engaging, and insightful discussion. At each of our 2022 autumn roundtable sessions, we posed the following three questions to participants: ✔ What is your vision of the world you want to live in? ✔ What type of society do you want to be a part of? ✔ How does the work you are currently doing contribute to realising this? Having the space and freedom to imagine gave our participants an unbridled opportunity to share their visions for society and how their contributions could make these visions a reality. You can read what they had to say in our upcoming roundtables report but in the meantime, you can view part of our infographic here https://lnkd.in/eKTaN3_r #Roundtables #OurSharedFuture #CatalystsForChange Alt text: A lightbulb is on its side. The text reads "We invited participants to share their visions for society and their contributions to making these visions a reality. Find out what they had to say in our roundtables report".
