How any current or former military member, could support a draft-dodging grifter, who calls veterans "losers", regularly denigrates military members, their families & their service, makes little sense. Yesterday, October 26, was 'Day of the Deployed', one of our newest 'Days' calling attention to some worthy or at least politically correct cause. At the risk of appearing unpatriotic - or at lease politically incorrect - I'm going to comment on this 'one more 'Day' to celebrate the politically correct', appreciation for our military that always seems to be off to war in some foreign country these days. In case you're wondering where this originated, it was first proposed in 2006 in support of the not so popular Oil War we waged against Iraq under the false flag of the reported attack by Saudi terrorist. We eventually went after Afghanistan, world's largest opium producer. (As of 2021, Afghanistan's harvest produces more than 90% of illicit heroin globally, and more than 95% of the European supply.) But that's just the weeds of today's globalist military agenda, not the core issue. Some of our greatest statesmen and politicians have been military leaders as well. Their character is often steeled in the crucible of war, and having to confront first hand its horrors and futility. Washington and Eisenhower come to mind. Let us not forget the most important job of the military of a free people is to prevent war, not wage it. To be so formidable as to make peace the best and preferred option. And to provide guidance for those of weaker character when lives are at stake, whether those of our own country or those with whom we might find common ground. War must always be the court of last resort for the human race, and justice our most passionate cause. Killing one another is the surest way to perpetuate hate and conflict. Something non-military people, those who rarely have to risk their own lives, have yet to learn.

The second article in Volume 68, Issue 5, Retiring Military Jurisdiction Over Military Retirees, written by Prof. Robert Leider, argues that courts applying court-martial jurisdiction to military retirees for conduct unrelated to military service have misunderstood the Constitution's status-based test for military jurisdiction, which clearly distinguishes between active members of the regular forces and militiamen.
