T-Mobile Selected by U.S. Navy for $2.67 Billion 10-Year Contract https://lnkd.in/eBVxN5Hv T-Mobile announced that it was chosen as a wireless solutions provider by the U.S. Department of the Navy as part of the $2.67 billion Spiral 4 contract. This new contract will give all Department of Defense agencies the ability to place orders for wireless services and equipment from T-Mobile for the next ten years. With Spiral 4, the Department of Defense will have the opportunity to leverage T-Mobile’s leading 5G network for state-of-the-art wireless solutions that meet the evolving needs of government operations. The comprehensive, multiple-award contract includes voice, data, fixed wireless solutions, Internet of Things and mobility management solutions. It will help ensure robust and reliable connectivity for government activities — from mission critical communications to network solutions that serve military personnel and federal civilian agencies. #5g #connectivity

John Sherman, the Chief Information Officer (CIO) of the Department of Defense (DOD), announced an upcoming digital modernization strategy named "Fulcrum," set to be released in June. This strategy aims to transition the DOD to a software-defined enterprise, building on the department's 2019 defense modernization strategy. Sherman highlighted the collaborative efforts involving multidisciplinary teams from various military and defense agencies to develop this guide. The strategy will address multiple dimensions of digital transformation, including expanding joint force capabilities, modernizing IT networks, and enhancing the digital workforce. A MOU was signed formalizing the state-level partnership. 5️⃣ US Navy says two programs show the case for ‘colorless’ IT spending. The Software and Digital Technology Pilot Program, shows the ability to use a single color of money is a dramatic departure from the way the military has been buying almost everything for decades. 6️⃣ US Army asks industry for best acquisition approach for Vantage data platform re-compete. Army is moving away from a single-vendor approach the service has used in the past and was planning to award multiple vendors a spot for the re-compete. 7️⃣ Pentagon hopes to ring in new year with minimum viable capability for JADC2. The United States Department of Defense is gearing up to deliver a minimum viable capability for Combined Joint-All Domain Command and Control, by the end of 2023. 8️⃣ The Army wants smaller command posts. But first it needs great software.
