🏙️ Cities face a tough challenge in implementing the circular economy because information is scattered, solutions are hard to scale, and definitions are often unclear! We are tackling these challenges by developing an AI-enabled platform to help cities advance their circular economy missions through tailored action plans. Commissioned by CircularPSP and financed by the European Union, we are designing, developing, and testing this innovative platform to empower municipalities together with our partners at Enjins. Our goal is to help cities adopt circular practices more quickly, widely, and effectively. Here's how we envision it will work: 1️⃣ Cities tap into the platform and, through an AI-assisted dialogue, are encouraged to provide additional context to the system. 2️⃣ With the provided inputs, the AI agent can contextualize a vast body of data into an answer for the user. 3️⃣ Depending on the focus areas of the city and the defined mission, the system will help identify the most important CE workflows and support their execution. 4️⃣ As cities across Europe start implementing these workflows, the outcomes will function as feedback to the system and add to the datasets foundational to its functioning. 𝗣𝗮𝗻𝗲𝗹 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀: 𝗣𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗟𝗲𝗱 𝗖𝗶𝗿𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗘𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝘆 🔄💡 At the Tech Show London Mainstage, a distinguished panel including Cynthia Reynolds, Founder at Circular Economy Coalition, and Professors Fiona Charnley and Ken W., along with entrepreneur Pablo Van Den Bosch, discussed how digital #technology can transcend recycling to drive a true circular economy. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗡𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 🌍⏰ The urgency to embrace circular practices was underscored by Pablo's reflection on the Netherlands' ambition for a fully circular material usage by 2050, highlighting the inevitable confrontation with resource limitations and the opportunities that proactive measures offer. 𝗥𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗪𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲 🔁💸 Ken noted the economic sensibility in repurposing materials, critiquing the lack of penalties for waste production and advocating for a systemic reevaluation of how we perceive and utilise resources. 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗿 🎨🔄 Fiona acknowledged the circular economy's capacity to integrate design and innovation at its core, transforming sustainability from a practice of 'doing less harm' to one that is inherently regenerative and innovative. 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 𝗮𝘀 𝗮𝗻 𝗘𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗿 📲🌱 The panellists concurred on the pivotal role of technology in making #circulareconomy practices transparent and viable, from data centres' lifecycle management to the traceability of materials, empowering businesses and consumers to make informed decisions. ♻️ What makes people more likely to engage in circular behaviour?
