Every person in the EU produces an average of 10.5 kg electronic waste per year. Well, figuratively speaking. In 2020, Europe alone discarded 4.7 million tons of electronic waste. By 2030, global e-waste is predicted to reach 74.7 million metric tons. We feel: That’s way too much. 🤖 An important way to help prevent e-waste is by choosing high-quality products with a long lifetime. That is why all BSH products are designed for durability and meet high quality standards. But there’s more to it. Swipe through the images to find out which vacuums and fridge can have an impact on your carbon footprint. Because you can be an e-waste superhero, too! 🦸 #Sustainability #ReduceEwaste #TeamBSH #SmallSteps

#Ewastecategories #GlobalEwasteDay #Post2 If you are wondering, what really comes under the category of e-waste, this poster can be a ready reckoner. The categorization of e-waste helps in understanding the various sources and components of electronic waste. Some e-waste categories may have hazardous materials, such as lead, mercury, and cadmium, which need to be managed and disposed of carefully to prevent environmental contamination and health risks. Responsible e-waste management includes recycling, proper disposal, and the extraction of valuable materials from these discarded electronic devices while minimizing the impact on the environment and human health. If you found this post helpful, please give it a 'thumbs-up'.

Today is the annual International E-Waste Day. According to #UN, 8 kg of e-waste per person will be produced worldwide in 2023. This means 61.3 million tonnes of electronic waste discarded within a year - more than the weight of the Great Wall of China. Only 17.4 per cent of this waste, containing a mixture of harmful substances and precious materials, will be recorded as being properly collected, treated and recycled globally. The remaining 50,6 million tonnes will be either placed in landfill, burned or illegally traded and treated in a sub-standard way or simply hoarded in the household. According to the study developed in 2022 by UNITAR and WEEE Forum members in 6 countries, (UK, Italy, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia and The Netherlands) of the 74 average total e-products in a household 13 are being hoarded (9 of them unused but working and 4 broken). Small consumer electronics (such as headphones, remote controls – often not recognised as electronic items) rank top of the list of hoarded products. If these gadgets remain in the drawers and cupboards, the valuable resources they contain cannot re-enter the manufacturing cycle and are lost. E-Waste Wednesday: E-Waste Wednesday is all about being conscious about how we use and dispose of our ever-expanding technology inventory. Globally, last year there was 53.6 million metric tonnes of electronic waste. That’s enough to form a line 125 kilometers long! Not only does E-Waste pose danger to garbage and recycling workers when improperly disposed of these items can also leak toxic material into the environment. The best ways to reduce your E-Waste is to repair and reuse as much as possible. Instead of throwing out your aging phone, get it repaired or recycle it by selling it second hand. Last year, globally, only 17.4 percent of all 53.6 million metric tonnes of E-Waste was recycled. That means an estimated $57 billion worth of high value recoverable materials went to waste. Make sure to reuse, repair and recycle your E-Waste in your proper bins! #CircularEconomyMonth #WasteReductionWeek For all the stats and facts, and for more information on E-Waste Wednesday visit: https://lnkd.in/gyTd4zbF

📞This is your reminder to give us a call about arranging E-Waste pick-up! 📱💻Electronic waste (commonly referred to as E-waste) is classified as any old, discarded, or unwanted electronic or electrical products. Due to the amounts of chemicals in these items, they cannot be disposed of with your regular waste! E-waste cannot go in landfills because these chemicals can contaminate the surrounding soil, waterways, and air. It is important to dispose of your electronic waste properly! #ewaste #ewastemanagement #ewasterecycling #electronics #electronicwaste #recycleright #recycling #CRR #sustainability
