It's that time of year...businesses are hiring minors for the summer. PARENTS *First and foremost, please re-iterate to your children (she's/he's/they's) that no matter what they can talk to you about anything that makes them uncomfortable, no matter how far down the path they think they are with an individual. -I've heard things like "I didn't tell because I thought it was my fault," "I didn't want my dad to be disappointed in me," "I flirted back at first because I didn't know what else to do/wanted it to stop, so I probably instigated it." *Please talk to your kids about what is unacceptable behavior from co-workers, managers, and customers/3rd parties. EMPLOYERS *Train your managers and employees on harassment, include bystander training, scripting to give them language to stop the behavior, and procedures around reporting harassment. *Ensure that you have multiple trusted individuals working around minors to observe what is and is not occurring. *Third party/customer harassment is still harassment. Employers are obligated whether by state or federal law to keep people safe at work. #titlevii #eeoc #hrprofessionals #humanresources #harassmenttraining #sexualharassment #summer
