#EBN2024 you were fantastic! 🤩 Here's what you get when you bring together (un)likely allies in the startup, innovation, investment, corporate and gov sectors around a challenging theme: 'Supporting Sustainable Industry' in Europe.   💡 Key takeaways to support the green and digital transition of Europe's industrial players:   ✅ Leverage the potential of the entrepreneurship and innovation support intermediaries #EUBIC #ESO to coordinate the local yet globally interconnected innovation ecosystems in Europe. “Our role as innovation and business support intermediaries is vital to bridge the gap between startups and large corporations, facilitating the development of innovative solutions,” Justyna Adamska, PhD #EUBIC Poznan Science and Technology Park of Adam Mickiewicz University Foundation.   ✅ Combine public and private investments strategically to enthuse corporates to be bolder in their innovation and R&D investments.   ✅Foster more market-driven support (clients and procurement), to counter the grant addiction of many innovation projects and startups in Europe.   “Governments should stop giving grants; instead, they should focus on creating clients for startups to foster real market traction,” Paulo Andrez.   ✅ Enhance true collaboration between startups and large corporations - no window dressing, one-off actions - based on clear issues faced by corporates.   “By working with startups, we gain the agility and flexibility that big companies like TotalEnergies often lack, helping us to innovate and invest in new energies,'' Arnaud PATHIAUX, TotalEnergies.   Special thanks to Bas van Abel (Fairphone) for bringing back the discussion to the 'micro mosquito with a huge impact' level, I truly enjoyed catching up and hosting you in Nantes.   Bas: ''The top environmental problems are still human behaviour related to selfishness, greed and apathy. ... We must re-connect with our materials and products. What you feel attracted to and connected to you do not destroy.''   Paulo Andrez (author of best-seller 'Zero-Risk Startup'), for driving those with an entrepreneurial idea to all become Zephyr's - through a risk-mitigated approach. Big thank you for the copy of the book!   Ana Barjasic (Board member EIC, European Innovation Council and SMEs Executive Agency (EISMEA)) and CEO of CONNECTOLOGY for emphasising not only the EIC's pivotal role in supporting deep tech companies (3.5 to 1 private-public investment ratio). But also, urging for a shift towards measurable impacts like reducing the gender gap and facilitating the participation of innovators in widening countries. Looking forward to continuing the talks of biased decision-making and the potential role of AI (#humaninformation #warmdata)   Congrats on the great job done by the teams at EBN - European Business & Innovation Centre Network and Atlanpole, all the speakers and partners - and EU|BIC members participating!
