𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹 𝘀𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗻 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘆 𝗪𝗲𝘀𝘁! With 11 of the 60 planned monopiles now installed, installation is in full swing on the OW Ocean Winds' 882 MW Moray West wind farm offshore #UK. The project location is a busy site these days, with several campaigns running alongside each other. 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 Monopiles are currently being installed by Boskalis’ Bokalift 2, with a median performance of 1.3 days per foundation, with Port of Cromarty Firth's Invergordon Quay being used as the Marshalling Port. As of yesterday, the port has received 48 monopiles from Dajin Heavy Industry Corporation via three HLCs, and 14 from Navantia, S.A., S.M.E’s Astano Fene yard via HLC Vestvind. Transition Pieces (TPs) are being manufactured at Lamprell’s Al Hamriya yard. The first batch was delivered early this week by HLC Sun Shine at the South Quay of Port of Nigg. Installation of TPs is expected to begin in approximately a month, once most of the monopiles are in place.    𝗖𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲𝘀 Installation of the two export cables also came close to completion this week, with both cables being laid almost simultaneously. The 49 km long East Cable was laid by Nexans Aurora at a laying speed of 0.32 knots. The vessel’s 10,000 t carousel capacity allowed it to transport the entire cable in one trip from Halden facility in Norway. The 51 km West Cable was transported over from the Charleston facility in the US, in two trips by Nexans Skagerrak which has a 7,000 t carousel capacity and was laid at an average speed of 0.22 knots. 𝗦𝘂𝗯𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 The wind farm has two offshore substations (OSS), both of which already have the monopile foundations in place. Topsides for both have left the Smulders Wallsend fabrication yard (UK) headed to Port of Nigg. Bokalift 1 is expected to soon begin installation. 𝗧𝘂𝗿𝗯𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 & 𝗔𝗿𝗿𝗮𝘆 Installation of Array Cables and Turbines is expected to begin Spring 2024. Further coverage of the recent news that #WisonNewEnergies would halt all work with Russia. China's Wison New Energies announced its withdrawal from the Russian market due to the threat of #sanctions from the United States. It announced the termination of current and new projects in Russia for an indefinite period. #Wison built modules for the #NOVATEK-led #ArcticLNG2 Project, which has been targeted by #sanctions from the #EU and the United States. It is speculated that the decision of the Chinese company to leave the Russian market and sell the shipyard participating in the Russian project may indicate an attempt to protect itself from possible #sanctions. In the first half of June 2024, the US introduced measures against the Penglai Jutal Offshore Engineering (#PJOE) Heavy Industries shipyard, which also produced modules for #ArcticLNG2. Simultaneously with its exit from the Russian market, #Wison announced plans to sell its entire stake in Zhoushan #Wison Offshore & Marine, whose shipyard built modules for #NOVATEK. In 2023 #NOVATEK announced plans to build an onshore gas turbine power plant for general power supply and to support the operation of #ALNG2 trains. The construction of the power plant was planned to be carried out in three stages, each of which included the supply of four modules designed and manufactured by the Chinese company #Wison. #Wison shipped two piperack modules earlier this year for #ALNG2 #GBS3 (these are still a few weeks away from Russia), with two more remaining at the yard. https://lnkd.in/g7wHWsSX

By the beginning of next year, our two O-class vessels will be ready to operate with new main cranes capable of handling the next generation of XXL offshore wind turbines. The first main crane is now finished and ready to be shipped from the quay in Korea. When you transport such a large crane from the fabrication site to the loadout quay it is of course not free of challenges. Each new crane weighs an impressive 2,600 tons and even when separated into different components to ease transportation, the size of each of these components should not be underestimated. The transportation had to be done during nighttime and required traffic lights to be dismantled, trees along the road to be trimmed and in some cases even trees to be dug up and replanted again. The new cranes will have a lifting capacity of 1,600 metric tons at a radius of 40 metres with a main hook able to reach an impressive 160 metres above the main deck. The upgrade will take place in Schiedam, Rotterdam in October and consists of many steps as the vessels must be reinforced in several specific areas to be ready for the new crane. For offshore access specialist Ampelmann, Enersea has designed an innovative walk-to-work system: the W-type. The W-type is an electric gangway system developed for the Service Operation Vessel (SOV) market to efficiently transfer personnel and cargo at various heights. Enersea has been involved in previous designs of Ampelmann systems such as the A-type and L-type, which were not tower based systems. For the W-type, Ampelmann asked Enersea to design a new type of access system consisting of an integrated tower and gangway. In close co-operation with the Ampelmann engineering department the design process has evolved into an innovation in the offshore market. Several new features have been incorporated in the design. The gangway can convert into a fully functional crane with a lifting capacity of 2 tonnes. Further, with its 1.2m width, the gangway is wide enough to transfer trolleys of up to 750kg. Especially for the offshore wind market this is convenient as servicing individual turbines requires a substantial amount of equipment and tools. These can now easily be rolled to the transition piece or working platform of the wind turbine foundation.
