🎉 Reflections: Birthday and 9 year work anniversary at Booking.com🎂🎈 As I mark these milestones I wanted to share some key takeaways from my journey: Be the Protagonist: 🌟 Life thought me that being the protagonist of your own story means deciding what you want to achieve and making it happen. Dreams can be realized with determination and hard work. One of my proudest achievements started 15 years ago, when I made the decision to leave my 23 year career in the airline industry to pursue a bachelor's degree and a career in Learning and Development. Plan for Outcomes: 📈 As an L&D professional, I've discovered that it's not just about creating content and training; it's about focusing on how I can support the business, teams, or individuals to perform at their best. Outcome-driven planning ensures that our efforts make a meaningful impact. Build Strong Relationships: 💼 Throughout my career I've had the privilege of working with incredible colleagues and vendors, both locally and internationally. Some of whom became friends. Building strong relationships based on trust, empathy, and collaboration has been a cornerstone of my journey. Be Resilient: 💪 The pandemic reminded us that change is the only constant. When challenges arise, those strong relationships serve as a lifeline. With a protagonist mindset, resilience becomes a superpower, helping us bounce back quickly from adversity. This year marks 30 years since the last dolphinarium closed in the UK yet one of the world's biggest travel companies TUI Group still chooses to profit from the suffering of dolphins. By selling tickets to venues which exploit dolphins, TUI legitimises confining them to a space 200k times smaller than their natural habitat, exposing them to crowds of people, loud blaring music and making them perform circus tricks in exchange for food. Some dolphins get so stressed in their barren tanks that they wear down or even break their teeth by persistently grinding them on the concrete walls of their tanks or the metal gates separating enclosures. In recent years Expedia Group, Thomas Cook, Virgin Holidays, Booking.com and Trip advisor have all chosen not to make money from dolphin cruelty, yet TUI Group still do.
