This is my take on what the acquisition and what it could mean based on a global understanding of the #accesscontrol industry, hours of discussions with people "in the room," and secondary conversations with people in the industry. To me this comes down to a few things: One of them is hope. I do recognize that hope is never a good business strategy but I think hope and a bit of logic will continue to make this neutral to slight positive story. There is upside in areas that would not take a ton of investment and there is some addition by subtraction + some acquisitions that would make this very interesting. #securityindustry #security #accesscontrol #globalcommunity

Yesterday afternoon, Hannah (Feldman) Hunt and the MetroStar team hosted the Digital Transformation & CX Fireside Chat at Café Escadrille in Burlington, MA. The Panel featured Lt Col Max Reele - Air Force Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) Lead, Jennifer Kay - Director, Defense Digital Service, James Guideaux C - CTO, Air Force Cloud One, Angelica Phaneuf - CISO, Army Software Factory, and Brian Beachkofski - CTO, Rithmm. The discussion primarily focused on navigating organizational challenges internal and external to DoD organizations. There were some funny moments and ‘spicy’ comments, but I won’t share those here. You had to be there. When considering the future, the group was optimistic, citing enthusiasm and digital native skills of the next generation and steady interest from individuals and “non-traditional” companies outside of the Department as encouraging factors. Bureaucracy and compliance standards exist for a reason. Is it frustrating working for/with/within the Department? Yes. Is it worth it? Yes. Will things get better? Maybe – but only if we communicate, focus, and embrace risk.

This is an incredible milestone for me personally, and for our Team. For those of you who know me, I am one of TSA's biggest advocates. I left the organization 10 years ago, but have never stopped believing in and supporting the mission and the wonderful human beings working there. Today I got back into an airport with TSA colleagues to listen and learn, but as a tech partner rather than as a TSA employee. I've grown up in this industry, and am determined to solve a need: making security tech management and compliance more automated and seamless by connecting ecosystem stakeholders with a common playbook and automated comms. No more spreadsheets. No more phone trees. No more emails. We at Curie Tech are on a mission to take better care of the equipment that's hard at work protecting people. Security matters. "Over the next few months, Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) expects to release more than a dozen solicitations for new projects, leveraging their Commercial Solutions Opening (CSO) process. Companies interested in competing for contract awards should monitor the #DIU website and social media for new solicitations, or subscribe to our solicitation notification newsletter. The FY24 budget will help DIU bolster the Department’s partnerships with tech-focused companies and investors. In addition to continuing to deepen the dual fluency talent that DIU deploys through its #technology portfolios, this means expanding all aspects of commercial operations. Examples include clarifying the demand signal coming from the Department, removing barriers and enhancing support to portfolio company scaling, expanding support and resources for existing Defense Innovation OnRamp Hubs and new expansion sites; and bolstering the broad range of #NationalSecurity Innovation Network initiatives to activate #defense #innovation ecosystems."
