I fully approve of this post. Thank you to David Morse for advocating for the LGBTQ+ community who is stigmatized by certain toxic religions, and by people who are afraid of others who are different than them.
The LGBTQ+ community is marginalized, shamed and treated with disrespect and contempt in general, and many in the gay community take their lives, or are attacked by violent individuals who are homophobic, and don't accept others who live different lifestyles.
Bullying, discrimination and emotional abuse is common, and American society and it's different religions contribute to this behavior, because many see a gay lifestyle as "a sin" and "perversion of humanity." Leading a gay lifestyle is not "a sin" any more than leading a straight lifestyle or any other personal lifestyle is not "a sin."
Toxic religion needs to stay out of other people's business so everyone can enjoy the civil rights that we are all supposed to have living in America despite our differences.
You can all watch the distinguished theologian Father Dr. Brian Massingale (who is gay) speak in this recent lecture below about LGBTQ+ civil rights, and the violence that occurs towards people in these communities. This lecture will bring tears to your eyes I guarantee you in.🙏🏻 👇🏻
Redeeming the Soul of America: Striving for Racial and LGBTQ Justice

Dec 22, 2023
Theologian and social activist Father Bryan Massingale, professor of theology and social ethics at Fordham University, is an outspoken voice for anti-racism and LGBTQ+ rights, both within the Catholic Church and society as a whole. His 2010 study, “Racial Justice and the Catholic Church,” was prophetic in the way it spoke about racism in religious institutions. His life and work embody a commitment to addressing issues of racism, social inequality, and LGBTQ+ rights from a spiritual and ethical perspective. In this program, Father Massingale addresses the shocking rise of white Christian nationalism, its threat to democracy and how to move forward. He challenges institutions, including the Catholic Church, to confront their own complicity in perpetuating racial disparities and to actively work towards racial justice and reconciliation. He believes in the power of open but uncomfortable conversations to bridge divides and create spaces for healing and growth.
