<Prepares to get canceled for this> Thank you to the The Elevate Prize Foundation for having Gold House at your seminal Summit on the heels of our Creative Equity Fund's success in investing in leading indie films, indie media companies, and next-new creators with purpose. Also, FTR, I qualified that I love and grew up on Sesame Street; believe in local journalism’s preservation (but under a public good business model); and that all of this is a balance—but needs resequencing! What a privilege to be a part of the Banff World Media Festival Board, the seminal TV and series convener on the continent. While Festivals like this facilitate efficient BD and reunions, I was most struck by the sustained, meaningful programming that debuted: O The Indigenous Screen Office announced at the Indigenous Screen Summit, which kicks off the Banff World Media Festival, a $10 million Indigenous program to ensure the best Indigenous stories are seen on screens at home and around the world. Thank you to Helen Lin and Michelle Tang for fire-starting; Judy Lee for always making space; Sabrina Ellis; and our Rose Yan for this year's Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity #GoldToast! It's been such a joy seeing how much this cohort has grown from retreat to retreat, forging new opportunities for multicultural creative collaborations and amplification. As Helen taught us, communities view more ads than scripted/unscripted content every day, underscoring its imperative in reshaping minds and hearts.
