People always say daughters are closer to their fathers, just as sons are to their mothers, but I respectfully disagree.
The bond between fathers and sons is equally powerful and deserves recognition.
Both Ben and I have been working closely together in handling the growing journey of our sons. We want to actively participate in their life, therefore our priority set out to be spouse first, children second, and work third.
Every relationship worth maintaining needs intentional care.
1️⃣ We embrace vulnerability: It's ok to cry, boys have emotion too. We encourage open conversations about fears, dreams, and struggles. By creating a safe space for vulnerability, fathers can forge a deeper understanding and empathy, strengthening the bond with their sons.
2️⃣ We share common topics: We bring this up with our children on what we can do together to build stronger bond. And we then agree to make our dinner times as bonding times. While we enjoyed our dinner, either home-cooked dinner, or dining out, we shared about things that happened during the day and shared news that mattered to either one of us.
3️⃣ We respect and celebrate Individuality:
Each father-son relationship is unique, and it's essential to celebrate the differences that make it special. We encourage our sons’ individuality, supporting their dreams and aspirations. This action helps to foster a sense of trust and acceptance, allowing the bond to flourish.
The father-son relationship is a beautiful journey filled with love, growth, and shared experiences.
May all the fathers out there, take this festive season to be a source of inspiration and joy! 🎉
