In "History of Policing: Policing, Capitalism, and Class," I look into the historical evolution of policing and its intricate ties with capitalist structures and class dynamics. The lecture examines how policing has been utilized as a tool to maintain social order, often reinforcing the interests of the ruling class. I discuss the origins of modern policing in the context of industrialization, highlighting how economic changes necessitated new forms of social control. The talk also touches upon the disproportionate impact of policing on marginalized communities, illustrating the systemic biases ingrained in law enforcement practices. Check it out below if you wish. https://lnkd.in/gqvY7H6J

Policing demands more. With Strong leaders, willing to speak out, with solutions = a safer community. Policing is let down by those In power. Why won’t those at the top speak out? Policing won’t change until those at the top want change. It starts with them…. https://lnkd.in/eqHMQiu3

YOU ASKED US... TO MAKE SALEM SAFER You asked us to be more proactive and focus more on working with our community to prevent crime and solve problems. With current staffing, we’ve had to shift our focus to emergency response – only. The Safe Salem tax is how Salem can have community-engaged policing. The new funding means we can add more officers for community policing. Discover what else Safe Salem can do at https://lnkd.in/gskywZaX
