Citizenship At Work: Dealing With Politics Inside and Outside The Company. This week's #podcast explains how we deal with difficult political issues as leaders, individuals, and HR professionals. #trump #politics #dei #society https://lnkd.in/gCPUTm5X
Very inspiring! You might enjoy this relatively old article which also reflected deeply on these issues: https://www.jstor.org/stable/3857271
Fantastic, Josh! Thanks for helping us think through the connection between politics, culture, and building a dynamic organization.
Great insights! Navigating politics at work is indeed a delicate balancing act. Your podcast sheds new light on this. Keep it up! Josh Bersin
Great podcast, Mr. Bersin. It's a challenging topic, but if we continue to stoke the coals for collaborative discussions, we'll continue to make progress. I think the takeaway for me, as a leader with resources and expertise, is to advocate for those who are marginalized and displaced through the ongoing discourse. Marginalization is being automated without proper governance and controls, so no one is immune. HR is often left to clean up the mess ungoverned marginalization causes. So hats off to HR leaders for doing what they can to instill civility in these historic moments. Age and health are undeniable equalizers for us all. Respect legacies and their pursuit, and progress will continue, even in the workplace. Great talk, and of course, courageous for approaching it for your colleagues. Thank you.
The phrase "we're not a political company" only makes sense if we accept that companies operate within a political vacuum. But in reality, every leader has to choose how their business operates and what it’s willing to stand for. For example, a company that claims neutrality on political issues but doesn’t protect LGBTQ employees from discrimination sends a clear message which “side“ it implicitly supports. Customers and employees alike are paying attention to those choices, especially Gen Z and Millennials.
Politics can kill any culture! Tread these waters carefully! Good one, Josh Bersin
As a parent to a 17 year old daughter who wants to study human sciences at uni, I am constantly challenged by her asking what prevents us (society) from doing the right thing 🤔. I have always felt the issue was caused by a top down approach. And it’s often the same at work. We need to be empowering diverse teams at ALL levels, to get the best out of each other and work together to solve the problems we are encountering. But we never seem to get it right. It’s always been very clunky. And not always effective. Only a few chosen employees are often selected to work on key projects, whilst some very capable ones are ignored. Team Interaction Optimization is an example of when Thomas innovators came up with a new concept that can make a positive impact on so many people ❤️. Building strong connections based on people science and AI. Then came the solution that makes it easy to embed in everyday work connections. For everyone. Building a world where we can all become a better colleague, teammate or leader. I am a huge fan. Have a read. https://www.thomas.co/team-interaction-optimization-tio
Collaborating to make systems meet the need
1moGreat episode. Citizenship is a great word and there is a need for a discussion what it means to us, citizens in our own communities all over the world. 👌
