After a relocation to Houston, TX for what promised to be exponential career growth, things took an unexpected turn, leading to the end of my employment. But amidst uncertainty, I leaned heavily on gratitude. Each day, I penned a list of ten things I was grateful for, envisioning them as already part of my life – my new job, office, commute, manager, title, you name it. Fast forward, I found myself not just landing a new role, but stepping into a whole new world. Picture this: a newly built hospital, still under construction, and not a paved parking lot in sight. Talk about new beginnings! As the sixth team member hired, I was given the mission to shape the HR landscape of this budding rehab facility. Sourcing talent, crafting teams, and fostering a culture of growth became my daily pursuits. The lesson? Embrace change, cultivate gratitude, and watch how the universe unfolds new opportunities in the most unexpected places. This introduction took less than three minutes. I love facilitating meaningful and impactful relationships to help founders, who already have a tough job & make their journey very slightly easier. I am also very grateful for those willing to pay it forward and give time to those earlier in their careers. I’ve probably posted similar to this sentiment before, posting again as a reminder: who’s day can you add value to and who’s journey can you make a little easier.

Day 3 (business days) after an unexpected layoff... Value. This word came to mind first thing this morning. Value meaning "the importance, worth, or usefulness of something (or someone)". How important am I today? I'm more than a worker. I'm a human being with thoughts, love, and care to give! I don't need to place all my value in the work that I do/do not do. This realization is empowering. It's easy to get caught up in the hustle of job searching, networking, and proving ourselves to potential employers. But amidst it all, it's crucial to remember our inherent worth beyond our professional roles. As I navigate this period of uncertainty, I'm reminded of the importance of self-care, self-reflection, and embracing my multifaceted identity beyond the confines of a job title. I'm grateful for the opportunity to rediscover my passions, strengths, and the unique contributions I bring to the table. To my network, thank you for your continued support and encouragement during this time. Your kindness and connections mean more to me than words can express. 💡 SELF REFLECTION TIME 💡 Two months have now passed since I experienced a layoff from my position at Renuity. Describing the journey as immensely challenging would be an understatement. Adding to the complexity, the unexpected job loss arrived just a month after the passing of my beloved grandmother in May. Her significance in my life was profound, and the dual impact of her departure and the job loss has significantly affected my mental well-being. During this time, I've actively pursued numerous job opportunities, extending my reach beyond my accustomed industry and adjusting my criteria to accommodate various roles. I've diligently followed up on applications, introducing myself countless times, yet securing an initial interview remains elusive. The current job market is undeniably arduous. Were it not for my dependable support system, the stress and pressure might have overwhelmed me completely. The intention behind sharing this is to offer encouragement to those undergoing similar experiences—keep your spirits lifted. Admittedly, it's easier said than done. In light of my journey, a few valuable insights have emerged: 🔆 Surround Yourself with a Supportive Circle: Seek out individuals who share your aspirations and will actively propel you forward. 🔆 Embrace Learning: Even the smallest new skill can be significant. Consider this time as an opportunity for personal growth. 🔆 Practice Self-Compassion: Understand that productivity varies from day to day. Treat yourself kindly and acknowledge that progress is not always linear. In conclusion, these past two months have taught me the strength we possess in challenging times.
