As we have officially ended June, it is important to acknowledge that Pride is each and every day. 🌈 Our LGBTQIA+ community is truly an intersectional community. It is filled with all races, ethnicities, disabilities, neurodiversity, faiths, and so much more. As a result of all of these intersections, there are massive impacts on what is currently happening politically in our country. We cannot ignore or separate these intersections, making the advocacy for ALL. 🌈 We all need to be making Pride a part of our every day experience. It may feel hard to figure out how to do this...there are so many of us out there that can help! ➡ Have your Safe Space, Rainbow, or Ally stickers out all year ➡ Follow all of the impacts on the community throughout the year ➡ Take steps of action - voting, writing your legislators, hosting supports, and so much more - throughout the year ➡ Ally's, remember that the LGBTQIA+ community can't stop thinking about these things or creating safety around them...to be a true ally, that is an important part for you to do as well. ➡ Address phobic rhetoric, statements, phobic organizations, and organizations that are performative allyship. 🌈 We CAN make change. We CAN stop these harmful experiences. Feminist movements are notoriously under-resourced by traditional philanthropy, with less than 1% of philanthropic funding supporting women and LGBTQ+ activists. Combined with the fact that grantmaking is often slow-moving, rigid, requires lots of paperwork, and is only available to registered NGOs, it's safe to say that there is a deep need for fast, flexible funding to help those in urgent situations. That's where Urgent Action Fund for Feminist Activism comes in.
