Noyb’s complaint maybe gratuitous and just placing tacks in the road but Privacy Groups are doing the best to keep Big Tech honest
noyb filed a complaint with the Austrian data protection authority, alleging Google's Privacy Sandbox "topics" API breaches GDPR Articles 5(1)(a) and 6(1)(a). The claim states Google misled users into consenting to ad tracking, masked as a privacy tool. This could have significant implications for ad tracking practices across Europe. #GDPR #PrivacyLaw #AdTech #DataPrivacy #Google https://lnkd.in/ePAZQgUU

But with our new alerting feature, you can be proactively notified when something has changed on your website. Our customers tell us it saves them time — we hope it helps you, too!

So important for the marketing and advertising ecosystem to stand up and be heard.
The California Privacy Protection Agency (CPPA) is seeking public input on the new Delete Act, enacted in October 2023. This law mandates the creation of a central system, by January 1, 2026, allowing consumers to request the deletion of their personal information from all registered data brokers through a single verifiable request. The agency has invited feedback on key topics such as defining verifiable consumer requests, ensuring privacy during data exchange, verifying the status of requests, and enhancing the consumer experience. A stakeholder session is scheduled for June 26, 2024. https://lnkd.in/ekdSTMYX #DataPrivacy #DeleteAct #CPPA #ConsumerRights #MarketingCompliance

How do you feel about California mandating Browsers to Offer an Opt Out Tool? Good ? Bad ? Indifferent ? The advertising and marketing ecosystem will need to sit up and listen when all browers make it easy for audiences to Opt Out.
GPC is not widely adopted today, but a bill mandating that all browsers support it would certainly impact those numbers.
