Just wanted to share a little update on my software engineering work! PepperDex is a fun project I started earlier this year. As a hot sauce enthusiast, I thought it would be fun to build a mobile app that tracks my expanding collection (and that gives me important information about sauces, such as Scoville ratings or a list of ingredients). It began with a LOT of planning. I created some wireframes in Miro using their Wireframe Library, and created a roadmap for building out the full-stack project. Not only did I think through my database tables, but I also planned out my variables/state changes. Check out my Miro board here (I’m pretty proud of it): https://lnkd.in/gqBnbmQH More recently, I’ve been building a high-fidelity prototype in Figma. It’s still a work in progress, but I’m happy about what I’ve created so far. A shot of my most complete screen, the search results, is attached! In addition to the design of the application, I’ve also begun setting up the dev environment to write some code! I will be using React Native and Typescript to build out the front end, along with Redux for state management. The back-end will be built using Azure infrastructure with Cosmos DB/Azure functions. I can’t wait to update you all on my progress as this project continues! If you or anyone in your network are hiring software engineers, I am open to new job opportunities and am actively on the job search. Any leads appreciated 😊 #PepperDex #OpenForWork #WomenInTech #FullStack #FrontEnd #Design

Day 28 of building Friend-Verse: Today, I began by enhancing the user experience through the addition of new features and designs to the two sidebars. On the left sidebar, I implemented a suggestion section where users can add new connections. On the right sidebar, I incorporated a complete profile progress bar to provide a visual representation of users' profile completion. #socialmedia #frontenddeveloper #webdeveloper #programmer #building #programming #tech #email #hiring #hiringdevelopers #hireme #techcommunity #webdevelopment #webdeveloper #softwareengineer

𝐓𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐭 𝐌𝐞𝐭𝐚. Tooling in a tech company plays a vital role in the company's overall growth. Tools automate tasks and workflows to save time and effort. They improve quality by finding errors and catching security risks. Overall, tooling help teams work faster, smarter, and create better products. In this post, I want to explore some of the tools used at Meta in the software development process. 1. 𝐒𝐚𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠: It is a version control system that can scale to huge sizes. It has three main components – a server, a client, and a virtual file system. The server stores all the data and is a careful mix of clever storage formats, wire protocols, and algorithms. The client talks to that server, providing all the familiar operations (check out, rebase, commit, amend, etc). The final component is the virtual file system. It support sparse checkouts, where a developer declares what subset of the repo they wish to see in advance. This helps save time and space as developer only checkout specific files instead of entire repository. 2. 𝐁𝐮𝐜𝐤2: It's a build system. Developers use Buck2 to compile the results and test out their changes. Buck2 is designed to work at large scale, supporting remote caching and execution, so that developers can share each other’s compilations and a single developer can have access to thousands of machines to run compilations in parallel. 3. 𝐈𝐧𝐟𝐞𝐫 is a static analysis tool - if you give Infer some Java or C/C++/Objective-C code it produces a list of potential bugs. 4. 𝐑𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐃: It is a tailor-made analysis tool to detect Java concurrency bugs. RacerD played a big role in our project to move Facebook’s News Feed on Android from single-threaded to multi-threaded. 5. 𝐉𝐞𝐬𝐭: It's Meta's Javascript testing framework. 6. 𝐏𝐡𝐚𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫: It is Meta's CI and reviewing tool, that helps developers review and submit stacks of diffs. This list is only a subset of tools used in Meta to support software development process. #meta #developertools #opensource #versioncontrol #buildsystems #testing #staticanalysis
