Driving Sustainable Impact: Strategist | B Corp Leader | CSO | Sustainable Retailer | Founder | Speaker | Writer | TV + Podcast Host | Board Member #thepowerofone
Very interesting development by Bayer... The traditional blister pack is made from PVC to protect medication from contamination - they have to be durable and they are usually a mix of PVC and some sort of foil, making these items really hard-to-recycle. Ps: The cardboard boxes they come in and the paper leaflets can be recycled at home! It looks like this innovation 'DMF' could be a solution... let's watch it closely! "Dry Molded Fiber (DMF) technology, invented by PulPac, is the first industrial method that converts renewable plant fibers into sustainable packaging and products. It's the only viable alternative to single use plastics in terms of speed, scalability, and cost." #recycling #recycle #hardtorecycle
Some exciting #sustainability news coming out of Bayer today. We have joined the Blister Pack Collective which helps accelerate progress towards a world of more sustainable tablet packs, reducing single-use plastics, especially problem plastics like PVC, in over-the-counter, prescription drugs, nutraceuticals, and confectionary items. Switching to Dry Molded Fiber tablet packs provides an opportunity to cut >100,000 tonnes of plastic medicine packaging used every year. It has an 80% lower CO2 footprint than plastic and requires minimal water usage This will support #Bayer's commitment to transforming 100% of our packaging to be #recyclable or #renewable by 2030. 💊🛡️Regardless of the business, a product’s packaging needs to be of a certain quality while also serving specific functions, like protecting the consumer. And the pharmaceutical industry is no exception.🌍📦 For example, pharmaceutical packaging must protect medication against physical damage such as crushing, breaking, or spilling. It must also offer a certain level of privacy for the consumer. And don’t forget about environmental factors such as air or light, as external elements can lead to chemical alterations in the medication.🏥🛍️ At Farmapak we understand this, but we are also aware of the need for eco-friendly packaging to protect the environment. That’s why we have created sustainable packaging solutions that not only keep the customer’s medication secret and safe as it moves through the supply chain, but also won’t add to pollution. This is because our eco-responsible packaging products are made from renewable resources like a potato peel waste. In addition, we also print branded bags for clients, enhancing your pharmacy’s marketing by not only advertising your business, but also giving it a bespoke look and feel to set it apart from competitors.🌱♻️ 🚀So, want to boost your pharmaceutical business with packaging that’s strong, safe, and environmentally friendly? Put your trust in Farmapak, as sustainable packaging solutions is what we are all about!👜✨ #SustainablePackaging #PharmaceuticalIndustry #EcoFriendlySolutions #EnvironmentalResponsibility #FarmapakInnovates #EcoResponsible #RenewableResources #HealthcarePackaging #CustomerSafety #PharmacyMarketing #BrandedBags #SustainableSolutions #GreenInitiative #ReducePollution #InnovativePackaging #ChooseFarmapak

Did you know that 58% of consumers judge the sustainability of brands based on their packaging? It’s hardly surprising. Packaging is the first thing you see on the shelf, the first thing you touch when choosing a product and all that remains when it is unpacked or used up. As a pharmaceutical or healthcare company you may not be able to avoid plastic packaging due to the need for product protection and an acceptable shelf-life, but you can switch to a packaging made of renewable resources. Sanner BioBase® could be your crucial first step towards more sustainability healthcare packaging. Contact Jerome Wallach for more information #sanner #sannergroup #sustainability

For drug delivery devices, the idea of a general substitute material for petroleum-derived plastics is, of course, very attractive. But we have to recognise the reality – it will take the industry quite some years to move to sustainable alternatives and deliver them at scale. In the meantime, we need a transition plan. And that’s why current thinking is focusing more on reusable drug delivery products, with a disposable element that can be easily recycled. These devices are also easily remanufactured. It’s the direction we’re headed in too. It’s true that the sector has carefully considered biodegradable options. But there is an inherent flaw with this route, in that biodegradability is sometimes in contrast with stability issues around drug integrity when considering prefillable pharmaceutical products. For now, protecting patient interests means purchasing plastic, single-use drug delivery products. But we can keep examining what we can do to minimise the carbon footprint of these products being bought, and plan ahead (together) to set achievable milestones for sustainability across a period of years. #Pharma #DrugDelivery #Autoinjector #Sustainability

𝗥𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗲 𝗕𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗣𝗮𝗰𝗸𝘀 This morning i had to refill my tablets and thought about sustainability and waste reduction. The pharmaceutical industry produces a lot of packaging waste, especially through blister packs, which are hard to recycle. Tablet containers are a more sustainable and practical alternative, which are reusable and recyclable. Even better would be if one could refill the tablet containers at the pharmacy, to save costs and resources. That would be a real progress for the sustainability of pharma supply chains. #reducewaste #sustainablepackaging
