After careful consideration, we've chosen #Yamaha SD-1 (#YMF825) as the sound chip. This is very similar to #OPL3 in sound and feeling, but way more capable.
With its additional waveforms, it should play #SID#chiptunes easily.

It took me far too many hours recently to sort through my USB-C cables and figure out which ones are high-speed, which can charge quickly, and which can do both. I had to test each one because none of them had a marker to indicate the type or speed of the USB-C cable. These days, there are many issues with switching to USB-C, so even a small indicator like Elgato's can be compatible and support up to 5Gbps in bandwidth by imprinting on the cable.
