Temperatures are rising in Houston, and we are all feeling the heat. Here are 3 Tips on how to stay cool this summer! 1. Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water throughout the day. Avoid sugary, caffeinated, or alcoholic beverages as they can lead to dehydration. 2. Wear Light Clothing: Choose lightweight, loose-fitting, and light-colored clothing. Natural fabrics like cotton and linen are preferable as they allow your skin to breathe. 3. Use Fans: Ceiling fans, box fans, or handheld fans can help circulate air and create a cooling effect. Place a bowl of ice in front of a fan for an extra cooling boost.

What to do to minimize heat Wave. -Drink plenty of water throughout the day, even if you don't feel thirsty. Avoid excessive amounts of alcohol, caffeine, and sugary beverages as they can contribute to dehydration. -Wear lightweight, loose-fitting, and light-colored clothing to help your body regulate its temperature. Avoid dark colors, as they absorb more heat. -If possible, stay indoors in air-conditioned spaces during the hottest parts of the day. If you don't have air conditioning, use fans and keep windows open to improve airflow. -Try to schedule outdoor activities for the cooler parts of the day, such as early morning or late evening. Avoid strenuous activities during peak heat hours. - If you need to be outdoors, find shaded areas to protect yourself from direct sunlight. -Apply a damp cloth to your forehead, neck, and wrists to help cool down. You can also use a spray bottle with water to mist your skin occasionally. -A refreshing shower can help lower your body temperature and provide relief from the heat. -Opt for light, cool, and refreshing foods such as salads, fruits, and vegetables. Heavy, hot meals can increase body heat. -Close curtains or blinds during the hottest parts of the day to block out direct sunlight. Use reflective materials on windows to keep indoor spaces cooler. -Never leave children or pets in parked vehicles: Temperatures inside a car can rise rapidly and become dangerous, even with the windows cracked open.

Diderot Effect and Habit Stacking!! No behaviour happens in isolation. Each action becomes a cue that triggers the next behaviour. Going to the bathroom leads to washing and drying your hands, that reminds you that you need to put the dirty towels in the laundry, so you add laundry detergent to the shopping list and so on. When it comes to building new habits, you can use the connectedness of behaviour to your advantage. One of the best ways to build a new habit is to identify a current habit you already do each day and then stack your new behaviour on top. This is called habit stacking. "I stacked my morning tea with reading a book." How do you stack / wish to stack your new behaviour, share in comments. #atomichabits #habitstacking #dideroteffect

🐰☀️ Twix is here to kickstart our 'Rabbit Awareness Week 2024' with some cool tips to keep your bunny comfortable this summer🐰☀️: 💧Stay Hydrated: Make sure your bunny always has access to fresh, cool water. Add ice cubes to their water bowl on particularly hot days. 💧Cool Space: Provide a shady, well-ventilated area for your bunny to relax. Avoid direct sunlight and consider using a fan (but not directly on them). 💧Frozen Bottles: Place frozen water bottles in their enclosure. Your bunny will love lying next to them to cool down. 💧Cool Tiles: Offer cool ceramic tiles for your bunny to stretch out on. Tiles stay cooler than other surfaces. 💧Damp Cloths: Lightly mist your bunny's ears with a damp cloth to help regulate their body temperature. 💧Limit Exercise: Schedule playtime for early morning or late evening when it's cooler outside. 💧Monitor Heat: Be vigilant about signs of heat stress like heavy panting, drooling, or lethargy. If you notice any of these, contact your vet immediately. Stay cool and enjoy the summer, bunny friends! 🥕💚 #RabbitAwarenessWeek #SummerBunnyTips #CotsDogsCats #Cotswolds

SUN STROKE The summer heat is becoming hot, hotter and hottest day after day. To avoid sunstroke, drink lots of liquids and maintain the body at a normal temperature during outdoor activities. Stay clear of alcohol and caffeine because they can cause dehydration. Wear light-coloured and loose-fitted clothing and take breaks often to get a drink and keep the body water level. Give the same care to your car as well. Leaving your car in extreme heat and sunlight can adversely affect its condition in the long term. The UV rays from the sun could end up damaging both the interior and the exterior of your car. The paint could dry and start patching up. Cracks could start showing up on your dashboard and leather seats. * Park in a shaded area * Wash the car regularly * Use windshield covering/sun blinds * Protect leather seats with seat covers * Wax the exterior. It reduces overheating * Leave the windows slightly opened for air circulation
