🎯 Career in Marketing: First Sales, then Marketing? But why so? You must have heard that you first end up getting a sales role before getting into marketing. This is true as well as not true. For some companies, you can directly get a marketing or branding role, but for most, it won't be the case, especially the best ones, i.e. FMCG. Therefore, you generally have a training period of 2-3 years, and then you eventually get a brand role. But, you get paid well [if you're in a top company] But what is the rationale behind the same? 1. To make you understand how things work on-ground, how the distribution channel works and potential opportunities and threats. 2. Know Your Consumer better. Once you interact with your TG [Target Group], you eventually learn a lot from them and gain key insights into your product. 3. Understand your Competitor: You get to know what your competitor is doing and what you can do better. 4. You become a master of the entire value chain: You understand each and every bit of the value chain, which eventually leads to a better understanding of the business. My perspective: I feel it is extremely important for one to learn each and every aspect of the business before getting into marketing. I can't make a strategy for a brand without even knowing how my brand looks on a shelf and my customer journey. [Yash ka Gyaan] Let me know your take in the comments. I'll be more than happy to reply. Let's Connect: Yash Prasad

What helped me grow my career as a marketing manager? ✏️ As soon as I resumed the position as the marketing Manager for Enviable Transport Services, I leverage on the existing relationships and networks I have built over the years. Not much of a network but, it gave me a starting point. I strengthened my existing networks/relationships (customer relationships); using them as an entry point for a much larger network and this did the magic. For every network/relationship, I nurtured, ensuring it wasn't all about sales but, meaningful relationships, giving me access to more networks. A marketing manager needs viable network to succeed.

When establishing an in-house marketing team, members may be spread too thin, taking on multiple roles instead of focusing on specific tasks. If existing employees lack the required skill set or experience, achieving the desired results may be challenging. A well-crafted marketing strategy is vital, as even with the best product or service, sales could stagnate without effective marketing.

🔎 As a marketing specialist in the supply chain digitalization industry, I often hear vendors claim that they are "end-to-end for everyone." However, this is not the best way to position your company. To stand out from the competition, it's important to differentiate your solution and target a specific audience. Many companies make the mistake of not having a clear target audience and end up lost in a sea of solutions. It's crucial to rethink your product positioning and identify the one thing that your product solves better than anyone else. Whether you target a specific industry or remain industry agnostic, make sure to specify your "ends" and spot target the manufacturers that would benefit most from your solution. Trust me, Supply Chain Directors will appreciate a clear and concise approach to solving their specific problems. So, let's work together to make sure your company stands out in a crowded market. Let me know what you think! 💭 ⬇️

Forget about the old "spray-and-pray" marketing tactics. Today's consumers crave a personal connection with brands. Enter relationship marketing. Relationship marketing is a long-term strategy that prioritizes building meaningful connections with customers. Why is it considered the best approach? 1. It fosters loyalty When customers feel appreciated, they're more likely to stick around. 2. Personalization Relationship marketing allows for tailored experiences that resonate with individual customers. 3. Brand Advocacy Loyal customers will spread the word about your brand, increasing exposure and sales. 4. Higher ROI It's more cost-effective to retain customers than to acquire new ones. Relationship marketing takes time and effort, but the benefits are worth it. Invest in your customers, and they'll invest in you.

How do you go about branding in China? What marketing channels are available to foreign companies? Take a look at what Crayfish.io has to say about it, and has to offer: Your brand communication in China starts with creating a Chinese brand name that goes beyond a simple phonetic translation. It’s more of an exercise that aims to communicate your brand’s meaning in the context of the Chinese market, and in a way that reflects your appreciation of local consumers’ tastes and preferences, and is politically sensitive. For your business to reach and develop a strong foothold in China, you need a country-specific digital strategy, as the country has become one of the most digitised economies in the world. Your digital strategy ensures that you reach your goals faster than anybody trying to pull off with an ad hoc approach. To sell to China or in China, a Chinese website helps in a big way but is not essential. If selling directly online to customers in China, you can have your entire Chinese site mirroring your main one. One thing to bear in mind here: you need to make sure you can collect money in Chinese currency. So have a currency transfer mechanism in place and arrange local logistics. You can also consider setting up a cross-border online store for China on major Chinese platforms such as TMall and JD for the Chinese eCommerce markets. If no direct online sales are involved, just localising a few pages on your main website into Chinese should be sufficient to get your key messages across. Social media is playing an ever important role in business in China. Forget about Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), Instagram or LinkedIn as they don’t work in China. For your China business, local platforms are much better, not only because of their dominance in local markets, such as WeChat, Weibo, RED, and Bilibili, to name a few. Of all the various social media channels in China, WeChat is probably the single most important one you need to consider. It boasts an active monthly user base of 1.3 billion globally in 2022. It functions like a combination of WhatsApp, Facebook, X and Instagram, plus marketing, sales, advertising and CRM functions for businesses, and mobile payment. Ready to reach out to your Chinese customers via Chinese social media channels? Thinking of setting up an official video account on Tencent or Douyin to showcase your products and services in China, or creating a verified WeChat overseas official account? You are better off doing it with the right help. Crayfish.io offers exactly that, the right help. #business #China #marketing #socialmedia #UK #branding
