In the 23 years that we’ve provided staff augmentation, contingent labor needs are always prevalent, they’re consistently in demand. But when we really see them spike, it’s in two ways - when our clients are scaling heavily, and on the other side of a macro-economic cycle of one form or another. Take the years after 9/11, and then after the recession - contract work soared. We see it happening again now, and on the heels and in the midst of unfortunate tech layoffs. Is there any good news here? I’m happy to say, yes, there is, because not only has the resurgence of contingent work in tech been met with open arms from companies and tech professionals alike, it also reflects a deeper shift in how we think about growing great teams overall. With advantages for both employers and job seekers, contingent work is here to stay and will reshape the future of work moving forward...

Ebbs and flows in the market (and in life) often shift the paradigm of how companies approach hiring & growth. With building teams, whether it's by mixing full time with contractors, contract to hire, remote/hybrid/onsite…. we have to get creative. One aspect of this is the rise of the contingent workforce over time, but especially in 2024 – and while we’re just a tiny subset of a giant labor market, it’s natural to experience a climb in contract opportunities in the midst of widespread and unfortunate RIF’s. As the market changes, it's incumbent on us to anticipate our clients' needs and empower them to grow through innovative staffing solutions, and so with this, I’m excited that we’re now established as an Employer of Record for domestic and nearshore talent! It’s pretty awesome, and for our candidates and workers, we’re able to standardize strong benefits options, as well as streamline our onboarding process and back-office operations. All that said – we’re still BWB. Looking at our work as being creative, and dare I say – adventurous.
