For the Bton Group, we supplied the technical infrastructure in form of a fully-fledged circulation line for the production of precast wall elements in collaboration with Unitechnik Systems GmbH.
This new technology marks a milestone in the fast-paced development for sustainable construction methods, with the aim to reduce the CO2 footprint as much as possible.

Recently, I had the privilege of participating in a webinar hosted by the Geofabrics Academy titled "Optimizing Gabion Retaining Wall Design using GAWAC 3.0 Software." During this insightful event, Maccaferri showcased their innovative GSC score, revolutionizing the design process for gabion retaining walls under SLS and ULS conditions.
A noteworthy highlight was Maccaferri's patented Polimac coating, a groundbreaking technology extending the design life of gabion structures to an impressive 120+ years.
My attendance at this webinar was driven by a desire to explore greener alternatives for the retaining walls I design in Prokon, while ensuring the same level of confidence in their structural longevity.

A few people have asked me about the rationale behind the design of the Blade Lifter in my previous post...
Essentially, this project was the definition of being in between a rock and a hard place! First up, we designed dynamic flexibility into the blade lifter to raise and lower on demand, depending on the terrain. This meant we were able to transport the >80m blades on a far smaller road footprint.
Then we built in an innovative design feature that would make it quick to load and unload blades, thus reducing time and increasing productivity.
It was a WIN, WIN for all creating:
- Reduced environmental impact to vegetation.
- Reduced civil works compared to that required of a standard blade trailer.
- Significant cost savings overall.
A fantastic collaboration showing true teamwork and a commitment to continuous improvement practice from Andrew Tshaikiwsky, ACCIONA Energรญa, JORO Consulting, Rod Pino, Stuart Edwards, Lynden kennedy (Kennedy Trailers) and Tony Chow (Microtec Engineering).
