WEC. WOW. A new Golden Age of motorsport. WEC Hypercar 2024. What a debut for the Alpine A424, 8th overall in the Qatar 1812km race, and the first of the new 2024 entrants across the line. After nearly 10 hours of flat out racing, the #35 car was just 37 seconds behind Ferrari, winners of Le Mans in 2023. #36 was 12th, the team completing a mind-boggling 665 laps between them. With Alpine, Ferrari, Toyota, Peugeot, Isotto Fraschini, Lamborghini, Porsche, BMW and Cadillac, all fighting for wins this year, the question is; if you are not following the World Endurance Championship this year, why not?! #WEC #alpinecars #lemans24

40 years ago, Alain Prost won the first of his five victories at Silverstone, only Lewis Hamilton has done better. Silverstone is the birthplace of F1, where the World Championship was born. why the 1983 race? The 1983 season was very balanced and I think that of Alain's first title, a story of non-compliant gasoline developed for BMW decided otherwise in favor of Nelson Piquet. why Silverstone 1983? This race highlights the protagonists of the 1983 championship, the speed in qualifying of the Ferrari 1z6C3 of Harvey Postlethwaite and its 120° engine created by Nicola Materazzi in 1980 for the 126C penalized by the rear Goodyears which deteriorated more than the Michelins, the intelligence and racing speed of Alain Prost, well helped by the quality of the Michelins and the power of Bernard Dudot's V6 Renault, the regularity and speed of Nelson Piquet at the wheel of a very efficient Brahbam designed by the Gordon Murray, well helped by the BMW engine from Paul Rosche (and also special gasoline from BASF). In short, a race of titans that perfectly illustrates this era rich in talent. Motorsport is made of great talents, on this 40th anniversary, I wanted to remember and share with you this emblematic race on a circuit that I love. Having said that, the SF-24 behaved very well there and this is another proof of the fact that, if the rear suspension problem (related to the return spring) is fixed, the car proves to have good potential. 🇦🇹 Red Bull Racing & Red Bull Technology: Since the beginning of the weekend, though, the current World Champion had been complaining about the aerodynamic balance of his car. As observed at the start of the season, this car is an extreme car, oriented to aerodynamic efficiency. It was a weekend full of surprises and twists that kept motorsport fans around the world glued to their screens. 🏎️ Now we just have to look ahead, with the next Japanese Grand Prix scheduled for 7th April. Top tier Legend - the McLaren F1! As we know, each F1 has some sort of story. Whether it is a racing history, an interesting ownership history or a build history. Chassis 022 is no exception either. It was originally ordered by Thomas Bscher in 1994. You may know the name, as Bscher piloted a F1 GTR to several wins, including winning the Global & European GT Championships. Oh, Bscher also went on to head Bugatti and was responsible for the introduction of the Veyron. As for the car itself, it started life finished in Genesis Dark Blue. It wasn't a garage queen either. Bscher frequently commuted with it, being said that he routinely surpassed 200mph on the Autobahn. He notoriously drove it hard. In 2003, it was sold to Miles Collier who sent it back to McLaren MSO (McLaren Customer Care back then) for a $300k restoration. The finish was changed to the green you see here, though it should be noted it doesn't technically have an official name. Sage, Metallic Green and Money Green have all been used to describe the color. It has metallic flakes in it that really give it a beautiful sheen in the sunlight. On the interior, it is trimmed in tan leather. Making this example a truly classic spec. In 2008, Collier founded the Revs Institute in Naples, Florida to display some of the finest cars in the world. Chassis 022 being one of them. Though, in this photo the car was out and about during the Amelia Island Concours. When I was just 14 years old, I was one of the first individuals on Earth to discover the Bugatti Bolide. Random story time... It was during the autumn of 2020 when, as a writer for DriveTribe, I stumbled upon an intriguing teaser on Bugatti's Instagram. The teaser consisted of a single number: '0.67'. With my knowledge of cars (and a ridiculous amount of luck), I deduced that it represented the remarkable weight-to-power ratio of a car that had been undergoing secret testing at the iconic Le Mans circuit, disguised in camouflage. Driven by my curiosity, I decided to reach out to Bugatti, hoping to learn more about this mysterious vehicle. To my astonishment, they believed in my passion and granted me exclusive access to information about the car, appointing me as a media partner for the much-anticipated unveiling of the Bolide, also known as 'BXX' at that time. Upon reflection, the most challenging part wasn’t producing the article itself or liaising with members of the DriveTribe team to get information about the car on our social media platforms. The biggest challenge was, and I mean this in all seriousness, keeping the whole thing a secret from my friends at school. Back then, I was merely a 14-year-old with an insatiable love for cars. So, my life remains unchanged nearly three years later. However, I am now closer than ever to realising my dream of making a mark in the world of automotive journalism. Perhaps I will achieve it soon—perhaps I won’t. Either way, I’ve loved every step of this journey. Huge thank you to BUGATTI and Marie-Louise Rustenbach for having faith in me back then. Whether it’s contributing pieces to titles such as Autocar or Practical Classics; or becoming the youngest ever member of The Guild of Motoring Writers; all of it is a result of your support all those years ago. Here are some sneak peaks: 🇮🇹 Scuderia Ferrari: Leap forward for the Scuderia Ferrari, as the SF- 24 seems to have a better base than last year’s car. Ferrari seem to have fixed this problem now and it is evident that the car reacts well to stresses. Regarding the suspension then, are the similar for every car, and it changes only their height in relation to aerodynamics. 🇬🇧 McLaren Racing: The papaya team emerged from the inaugural Grand Prix of the 2024 season as the fourth-fastest team, with Red Bull, Ferrari but also Mercedes ahead of them. The MCL38 is an evolution of the MCL60: it's not a limit in the development, but on a practical level it affects the PU, as it's better to build the car around it. Having said that, there are no other big limits. 2023 Season Review: Le Mans Virtual Series 2022/2023 Mixed feelings for us with the season result in LMVS 2022/2023. Despite overall better and improved performances in the vanwall racing / ByKOLLES Racing LMP2 machine the overall result aint that good. Sadly, a P13 and no-point finish in the 24 hours of Le Mans Virtual meant losing positions in the overall standings. Since we started into the season in P4, P10 as a full-season result is a disappointment. Sadly, LMVS did not take place this year as we are waiting for Le Mans Ultimate to be released in 2024. Hopefully, this awesome series will return soon.
