Come forward for Full Employment 🫱🏻🫲🏽 Unemployment is higher ⬆️ among young people than any other age group. Young people 📣 are also more affected by long-term unemployment and are far more likely to experience the instability of temporary contracts, part-time and precarious jobs. This May Day, we can celebrate how far we've come in terms of workers’ rights, while recognising that in many parts of the world - and in many sectors - there's still progress to be made. Did you know, for example, that two-thirds of those living in poverty globally are farmers and farm workers? This isn’t a problem that’s confined to low-income countries - it’s a truly worldwide issue. There is a clear need for a living income: the net household income needed for a farming household to afford a minimum decent standard of living. It’s a concept that is gaining momentum as a viable solution to poverty within agricultural value chains, and as an opportunity for organisations to demonstrate responsible business conduct. It’s also now something that falls under the purvue of the CS3D. Want to learn more about living incomes? There’s still time to sign up to our free webinar on Achieving Living Incomes in Agricultural Supply Chains, which we’ll be running this Friday (3rd May). We will be joined by expert speakers, including: ❏ Leena Camadoo: Livelihoods & Gender Lead, Ethical Tea Partnership (ETP) ❏ Mark Birch: Program Director – Sustainable Procurement, IDH ❏ Vaibhav Panpaliya – Senior Innovation Manager – Better Income, IDH Our panel of speakers will be sharing insights into how to get started with measuring living incomes, as well as examples of best practices and strategies to overcome common challenges. Sign up here to join the session and receive the recording: https://bit.ly/3WoejCu #MayDay #CS3D #Agriculture #SupplyChainDueDiligence #LivingIncome

Chapter two of the Rebuilding Employment Services report nails it: 'Australia’s employment services system has long been designed in a deficit paradigm, underpinned by two flawed theories. The first is that unemployment is an individual failing rather than a systemic concern, and that clients will make efforts to secure employment if only they are beaten hard enough. The second is that choice and competition in human services will inevitably result in better services and improved employment outcomes, especially for vulnerable and long-term unemployed (LTU) people.' https://lnkd.in/gFmm-h3v

T minus 10 days until the vote - if results go the way they are expected to, there are a lot of employment law changes on the horizon for businesses to get to grips with. While much of the detail is yet to be determined, there are certainly things to be doing now to help prepare! #emplaw #generalelection #ukpolitics
