What if shipping pallets were made of durable composite materials instead of wood? What if they could be tracked across the globe and reused? They are and we can. Pallet pooling enables shippers to rent and track reusable shipping pallets across the globe. It’s one way #IoT technology is making waste management sustainable. https://lnkd.in/gNb25wMy #Manufacturing #Transportation

One point though is that there is a cottage industry for unused wood pallets to make them into a variety of crafts and even decorator products. Don't assume that just because it is wood that it is not recyclable. I think the important thing is to strike a balance between wood pallets and specialty pallets, using the specialty ones only where needed to keep costs down.

Being at one of the COR retail stores. We get weekly fedex/ ups boxes for our shipments. Why couldn’t we reuse those for our equipment returns for Internet modems and have those shipping companies pick them up? Less waste to those away and it would help the customers save time returning them. Also help bring more traffic into the store locations?

Depending on pallet fees this could be a great reduction in tree waste.
