We're thrilled to announce a $50 million equity financing round led by General Atlantic, with participation from multiple existing investors. With this investment, we'll be able to significantly increase our production capacity and expand the availability of our award-winning non-alcoholic brews worldwide. We're passionate about transforming the way modern adults drink, and we couldn't be more excited to welcome General Atlantic and have them by our side as we begin our next phase of growth. Athletic Co-Founder & CEO Bill Shufelt joined Josh Lipton on Yahoo Finance yesterday afternoon to discuss the news and the future of non-alcoholic beer. https://lnkd.in/exuFpEct
Athletic Brewing Co. Excited for your success but why not include your biggest fans in the growth? It would be great for the category and the brand if Athletic would do a community round on a platform like Republic or Wefunder. It’s an incredible way for CPGs to build an army of fierce allies and lifelong customers by rewarding early adopters with the opportunity to have an actual stake in the success of the company. There are other non-alc brands like Drink Monday, Inc. and The Free Spirits Company who have already paved the way for making their customers actual owners in their products. Thousands of people like me love Athletic so much and would jump at the chance to be a small-dollar owner in the company through equity crowdfunding. Thanks for listening and for considering.
Cheers, Athletic Brewing Co.. congratulations. I'm thrilled for your business and what it means for the entire segment. I posted about your brand a few months back. I enjoy the taste of your NA beer, but when my buddies, who are NA skeptics, pointed out that your beer LOOKED like beer, it felt like a shift, just like when Miller started promoting Lite Beer in the 80's. https://www.linkedin.com/posts/erikjanderson_worldcup-activity-7165724226765750272-99OI?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_desktop

3wA lot of this money is going to undercutting existing NA brands by allowing distributors to heavily discount Athletic over regional NA brands. Athletic isn’t so much growing this industry as canabilizing it to try and obtain market share while craft breweries (which have been also making NA beer for far longer) are struggling as consumer preferences are changing. Good business if they can kill competition and gain permanent product placement / handles… but they aren’t currently growing organically and profitably like their regional competitors that aren’t getting cash infusions. Will the loyalty remain when the heavy distribution discounts stop or will people prefer local (as they should for all beer related products).
