Anxiety is a constant companion of mine. My thought spirals often whizz out of control! For years, it held me back from embracing challenges. But today, I’m thrilled to share a milestone in my journey: I’ve recorded my first podcast. I know that does not sound like a lot, but for me, it is kinda of a thing!
The thought of putting myself out there (despite blogging frequently!), and having my voice heard and my ideas scrutinised, was daunting. Yet, I did it. And I’m excited to share this experience with you all.
Living with anxiety means constantly battling an internal chat that questions your worth, your abilities, and your right to be heard. It means overthinking every decision and fearing the unknown. For me, speaking in public, or even just recording my thoughts, was something I have feared doing for ages.
I thought about it for a long time, the anxiety would creep in. “What if no one listens?” “What if I make a mistake?”…do you know what it is out there now and I will let you decide if it’s worth a listen!
Intellectually I know that fear often diminishes when faced head-on, and feeling your fear and doing it anyway is a great strategy for many, but stepping into your stretch zone can be frightening and very daunting.
By confronting my anxiety and pushing through the discomfort, I found a sense of empowerment. It’s not about eradicating fear entirely but learning to navigate through it.
I have a long way to go, and I am working hard to stretch myself more. I am also happy that I don’t have to put myself in situations that I know will just exasperate my anxiety, which in turn has a direct impact on my health.
So, here it is. My very first podcast episode.
‘Realising Your Potential; The Podcast’ – Does Leadership learning really make a difference to culture…
Thank you for inviting me Nadia Baker and for being such a great host.
Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, self-doubt, or any other obstacle, know that you’re not alone.
We all have our battles, but it’s the courage to keep moving forward that defines us.
And to anyone reading this who is struggling with anxiety, remember that it’s okay to ask for help, to take things one step at a time, and to celebrate every victory, no matter how small. Small changes make a big difference!
Here’s to facing our fears, embracing our vulnerabilities, and finding strength in our stories.
Have a fab weekend all

Sean Spurgin co-founder and director from Elev-8 Performance-8 talks to us about why learning is such a passion for him, why advocacy of senior leaders matters and how learning can aid performance.
Some highlights from Sean's reflections include:
💡Leadership is a craft that should be continually refined
💡Brene Brown's thinking that being clear is to be kind
💡Impactful learning requires the bravery to look inward at yourself
💡Embracing learning offers leaders the power to illuminate the awesome in others

Helping leaders and organisations to think about the ways they can help everyone to Realise Their Potential
Helping leaders and organisations to think about the ways they can help everyone to Realise Potential
What happens when Adam Grant, Simon Sinek and Brené Brown get together for a podcast episode? Plenty of fun banter (and some great learning!)
This isn't the first time they've done it, but every time they regroup, it leads to a burst of ideas exchange that any student of leadership, learning and culture just cannot afford to miss.
If there's one episode you need to tune in to, it's this one.
What I learnt:
- Leaders ought to be *less* like parents and more like guides, facilitators and coaches.
- As a leader, what you say can quickly become gospel even if that wasn't your intention. Are you providing an opinion or just thinking out loud? Be sure to clarify.
- One of the clearest drivers of inclusion is literally just being looked at by the leader.

Weekend podcast recommendation:
Interview of Paul Assaiante, two-time Olympic Coach of the Year. Great advice on leadership, success, and how to deal with fear.
Highlights of the show:
🤔 When you’re struggling with something, step out and ask yourself, “What’s the worst that can happen? Is this really going to be a life-altering experience? And if it is, how do I come to grips with that? And if it’s not, then why am I making it a bigger deal than it actually is?”
🪞 "Success is to get to a place where you can look in the mirror and say, I have enough."
🤾🏽♂️ "Practice is an opportunity to fail. And failure is the playground of success."
💪🏽 During practice, focus on your weaknesses. During a game, focus on your strengths. As a leader, make sure your team members are playing to their strengths
I hope you enjoy it.
