When is it better to post on LinkedIn? Today is Ferragosto in Italy, a national holiday that originates from the Roman period (from Latin: feriae Augusti) as a day of rest after agricultural work. Then, it became a religious festivity - the Assumption of Mary. The 15th of August is a synonym of rest, barbecues, friends, and family! Many shops and companies are closed in this period so you won't find many people at work. 🌊😄 ❗It is always better to check the national festivities of the countries you'd like to be visible from. ❓Which festivity in your country should we remember before posting? Fellow Italian translators, are you working or resting today? #LiTranslators #work #holiday #traduzione #freelancetranslator

Merry Christmas if you celebrate this day on 24th December. Many countries, such as Finland, Denmark, Norway, and Sweden, celebrate their special festive day today, with traditions often lost in the annals of history. There are so many rituals and religions, from pagan to Christian, from Saturnalia to winter solstice, and from Jewish to Muslim, and from Hindu to Buddhist to name but a few. But know this; any and all festivities and celebrations are opportunities for people to get together, and to remember the best of humanity. And what is best of humanity? Well, in my view, it means caring for and helping others whenever and wherever possible. It means ignoring our own selfish interests and demands, and focusing on the needs and wants of others. It means helping those less fortunate. It means connecting and reconnecting. And it means extending non-judgmental, unprejudiced unbiased and unconditional love to each and every living being on Earth. Love for humanity, for living things, and for our planet has no borders, no right and wrong, no winners and losers. And wouldn’t it be great if – at least for today – we could remember and celebrate that?

Halloween is becoming more and more widespread, yet traditionally Eastern Europeans, including Hungarians, celebrate All Saints Day, Mindenszentek on November 1st to remember the loved ones who have passed on. On this day they visit the cemeteries, light candles, and decorate the graves with flowers, usually with chrysanthemums. In my adult life, I have rarely kept this tradition - until I moved abroad. It was my grandmother's sudden death while I was living in the US that made me create my own way of remembrance. 🙌 As an expat, you can keep certain traditions from your homeland and add new ones from your chosen country to decide what matters to you and bring groundedness to your life abroad. 🙌 If you're a company whose employees are international, you can offer a set number of vacation days that everyone can use whenever they celebrate a holiday according to their own traditions. 🙌 In my #coaching, I design engagements that are able to support expats, migrants, and those who choose to create a living outside of the country in they were born. Read about All Saints Day and a personal story I share in my latest blog (link in comments) 🧡 #traditions #expatlife #internationalorganizations #culture

Pachamanca is a compound Quechua word; Pacha means “earth,” and Manka means “pot.” It is an underground hot stone barbecue prepared by the Andean people since the time of the Incas. History of Pachamanca Pachamanca is not just a dish; It is part of the Andean culture, a social ritual where people can delight in the vegetables and meats provided by Mother Earth. Pachamama is Mother Earth, and pachamanca is the food that provides Mother Earth. In the Andes, cooking underground connects with nature; It is a way to enjoy what nature offers us. Pachamanca is only prepared for special occasions such as weddings, birthdays or important festivities. Pachamanca in Peru is a tradition that dates back to pre-Inca times, used in celebrations and religious festivities. It represents a form of gratitude to Pachamama, the earth goddess in the Andean worldview.
