Inspired by one of our MeetUps, we sat down with Andrei Straut and Pedro Serra to understand how to implement and maintain an intentional, strong #EngineeringCulture. Nowadays all companies are expected to have a healthy company culture. But how do we get there? In this article we're discussing what goes into creating a solid culture that employees will actually enjoy, identify with, and advocate for beyond the workplace. But let's start by defining what an Engineering Culture is: "[It] is the sum of multiple things that all come together to create a company. On the concrete and quantifiable side there are processes, regulations, guidelines, metrics, and company values that define how things should work. On the abstract side, you have the attitudes and behaviors that are encouraged (or prohibited), and the atmosphere you want your company to have. These things then come together to create a "character" that your company has, which is actually the culture." - Andrei Straut "[It] is the outcome of a set of shared values, practices and even strategies that end up defining the environment in which engineers contribute to an organization's goals. It isn't so much about technical skills, but rather about the approach lived by those departments." - Pedro Serra If developing a strong Engineering Culture is important in your career, then get ready to read, "The ins and outs of a strong Engineering Culture with tb.lx": https://lnkd.in/gxfZttUm Do you think cultural expectations differ across industries? The ability of self-managed development projects makes the difference. To balance the load of the work pensum is not that easy. Sometimes very probable opportunities will be stopped, postponed, or get lost. Employees must be paid and managed with most sustainable tasks. Also challenging situations will pop up if you win more projects than expected. Managers have the responsibility to steer the team, the department the business area and finally the company in a safe and sustainable future. In cases you cannot plan your engineering team twice it might be helpful to collaborate with a suitable engineering partner like EDAG Group. EDAG makes the difference because we are focused to manage our development projects and take over the responsibility. Within EDAG Electrics/Electronics we are focused to 5 portfolios: #ADAS #Edrive & Energy systems #UX / #UF #Mobility & #Cloud Services #overall vehicle electric/electronics. In every specific portfolio we offer system engineering, embedded + mobility IT software, integration & validation and functional safety and cyber security. I am sure it is very easy to map our E/E portfolio to your organization and projects, which you are not able to handle. Let’s go in contact. #systemengineering, #software, #integration, #validation, #projectmanagement, #selfmanaged
