The kind of engineering that goes inside smartphones to assess whether you’re walking and counting your step is just mind blowing. Have been developing a custom system for myself and it’s a tough yet enjoying ride. You use accelerometer to get the 3D acceleration vectors, but they’re are susceptible to plane changes(as you rotate your phone), so you need to get the rotation vectors to accommodate the correction and then after several layers of processing you get instantaneous velocity. The processing steps consists of reducing noise by low pass filtering, using proper algorithm to detect steps, making a bias correction and so much more. Even the simplest of the systems require so much engineering!!

Also, some of the speakers spoke about AI applications and how it is going to change the world and how Qualcomm can contribute to it. Qualcomm has made a significant effort to bring AI to Edge. QUALCOMM's product smartphone is powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 mobile platform and laptops are powered by the Snapdragon X Elite platform. Generative AI powers these platforms.
