Lee, Fellow on Chinese Economy 4️⃣ After visits to Russia and Ukraine last week, Hungarian prime minister Viktor Orbán made a surprise visit to Beijing. "Compared to a strong climate movement globally and a robust mechanism of climate lawsuits across jurisdictions, #China’s climate litigation is still in its nascent stage. Nonetheless, it has the potential to help the world’s top emitter achieve its dual carbon goals – of peaking emissions before 2030 and reaching carbon neutrality before 2060." Asia Society Policy Institute's Schwarzman Scholars Fellow Daria Kurushina writes about climate litigation in China for Dialogue Earth⬇
💼🌱 Could lawsuits power China’s low-carbon transition? Climate litigation can compel governments to enact stronger climate action and to uphold existing environmental legislation, and push enterprises to respect the rule of law and comply with environmental regulations. ✍️ Daria Kurushina shares her thoughts: https://loom.ly/r-bg4KQ Asia Society
