We are thrilled to have once again participated in the STS Forum in Japan 🇯🇵, where our CEO & co-founder, Samantha Anderson, had the opportunity to present DePoly's unique plastic recycling solution and engage in discussions spanning a wide range of topics related to science, technology, and strategies for boosting the tech-based innovators globally. 🔬 It was a privilege to be amidst some of the most transformative #SwissTech start-ups and scale-ups joining the conversations - Christoph Beuttler (Climeworks), Sue Putallaz (MobyFly | Zero-Emission Hydrofoil Boats), Maria Hahn (Nutrix AG), and Gianluca Ambrosetti (Synhelion), but also high-caliber speakers - André Kudelski (Innosuisse), Michael Hengartner (ETH Board), and Raymond Cron (Switzerland Innovation), and all the other participants who joined the sessions. Some thoughts on #Intersolar Munich: [Size] 🗺️ 3,000 exhibitors. Compare that to the size of your school and imagine each has set up a sustainable energy business! Easily 20-30 football pitches of exhibits. The industry is in good health it seems. [Prosumers] 🏡 Products targeting domestic customers seemed to be the main growth area. Clearly a trend in Central and Western Europe, it feels less prevalent in UK/CEE regions. [Made in China] 🇨🇳 Snapshot: ~50 exhibitors had a company name that *started* with Shenzhen. Thousands were based in China, almost all will use some components or equipment manufactured in China. Outside the industry, how well known is Chinese presence and innovation in the green supply chain? [Obfuscation of equipment origin] 🧐 “EU-based manufacturing" was a common USP. All that I spoke to relied on assembling at least some Chinese-manufactured components. I get this is allowed if certain criteria are met, but I thought it illustrated something interesting. [Quirky networking] 👏 Shout out to Mr Wei of ANPL (pictured!) who insisted on getting a selfie with me and then followed up via whatsapp with the selfie and his company brochure. Felt odd at the time but very memorable and a helpful reminder! A great idea.
