Blending API and excipients can be difficult and time consuming, requiring different approaches and pieces of equipment when scaling up. PSM has successfully filled pre-sterilized, ready-to-use 3ml cartridges With the implementation of ready-to-use aseptic filling line by groninger Group, PSM has the capabilities of processing pre-sterilized syringes, vials and cartridges. The first cartridges were being filled for a small scale R&D application recently. With e.g. the GLP1 insulin has been growing significantly over the last years, also the demand for filling capacities for pre-crimped cartridges for smaller batches has increased. In the GMP lab scale, PSM can fill and close around 500 cartridges per day, for phase 2/3 and commercial manufacturing the groninger flexfill can process up to 7000 units per hour. All fill&finish solutions can be executed with vacuum stoppering. This is extremely important especially when a high stopper position accuracy is required and also if there is the requirement for a very low residual air bubble. In the pharmaceutical industry, sieves and screens are regularly used to determine the size of raw materials. The most common way to measure the sieves and screens is with meshes. On average, about 40 to 400 sieves are used in the industry, especially during the milling and sifting of raw materials. Getting the mesh size correct for your particular blend is really critical.
