When we think about advancements in leadership and innovation in healthcare, we’re seeing medical affairs develop their growing social media followings. Distinct from corporate accounts, these teams define what’s important to them and share it with their followers. But other medical affairs teams remain reluctant—and that’s a shame because they are missing out on the chance to connect with the HCPs, patients, and care partners who are active online and conducting their own research. That's why the SOMEMA Index created by Tim Mitchell, Managing Director of Medical Communications & Innovation, Klick Health, is essential. It provides a clear framework for medical affairs to quantify and enhance their social media outreach, ensuring strategic growth that aligns with our industry’s goals. Tim explains his rationale here and this article includes: - The rising significance of individualized social media platforms within medical affairs - The necessity for robust measurement strategies to guide social media engagement - The potential of social media to foster deeper connections with the medical community Learn more about the impact of SOMEMA and how it can transform your approach here: https://bit.ly/3UaQNHv

The number of #medaffairs organizations establishing their own social media accounts has reached an inflection point, with nearly two-thirds of all such identifiable accounts emerging post-pandemic. While some accounts have established followings of over 30,000 that rival or surpass those of digital opinion leaders (DOLs), most medical affairs organizations have yet to step onto the social media playing field. Uncertainty about how the impact and return on investment for medical social media engagement can be measured prevents other medical affairs organizations from shifting from a passive (e.g., social listening and DOL insights) to a participatory social media engagement model. To address this industry need, Klick Health is excited to unveil SOMEMA (SOcial MEdia for Medical Affairs), an index and insights platform designed to support #medaffairs in shaping their medical social media strategy, setting KPIs, and benchmarking performance relative to industry peers. Read the full article on IDX to learn about how SOMEMA can support the initiation and optimization of #medaffairs social media engagement strategies or visit the Klick Health Lounge at the Medical Affairs Professional Society (#MAPS2024) meeting, March 24–27, 2024, in San Juan, Puerto Rico. https://lnkd.in/e9BNC3ku

Ring ring. Calling all my pharma friends. Have you feasted your eyes on the latest report from the rockstars at EPG Health about HCP engagement? Penny for your thoughts. Here are some of the highlights: 🌐 Independent websites are a preferred source of information, but are low priority for pharma 📰 HCPs get bad FOMO – they’d like key takeaways for meetings they don’t attend 🫂 HCPs are embracing a broader range of digital channels, including social media 🤝 Medical affairs is the new focus, and primary driver of HCP engagement 🦷 HCPs want bite-sized and interactive engagement opportunities 🧠 They’re looking for unique, relevant content that adds value 🎓 HCPs are demanding educational content We've certainly felt a tangible shift in the work we’ve been doing over the last year, tipping the balance towards medical affairs (which we're loving by the way). Does this report ring true for you too? How are you adapting to changing demands for engaging with HCPs? I would link to it, but I don’t want to hurt the algorithm. It’s a sensitive soul these days. Oh, and if you need any help getting engagement ready, do just give us a shout. #medcomms #medicalwriting #healthcare #pharma #content
