Congratulations Stefanie Newman MSN RN NEA-BC!! For those of us for whom this is greek The Magnet Recognition Program and Quality Improvement in Nursing Nursing excellence is crucial because it guarantees that more patients receive high-quality, long-term, and cost-effective care.[9] Institutions that receive the Magnet credential tend to have happier nurses, higher levels of patient satisfaction, and better clinical experiences or outcomes.[5] Hospitals seeking this accreditation must undergo a thorough on-site study and evaluation. Magnet provides a framework for quality improvement as well as a systematic method for involving employees in the decision-making and improvement process. This is an excellent resource for those wishing to inspire and drive their teams. Magnet designation benefits patients, nurses, and healthcare institutions.[10]
An incredible celebration today at Henry Ford Health West Bloomfield. They are now officially recognized as a Magnet Hospital!! Very proud of the hard work by Stefanie Newman MSN RN NEA-BC, Shanna J. and the entire team.

Incredible moment at CHCW yesterday, as the PCBH team finished out a record breaking month regarding number of visits and handoffs. In total, the team set all-time records by completing 1,422 visits and 530 same-day/warm-handoffs. These visits and handoffs aren't meet & greets, rather, they are radical moments that gather a patient's context and provide a contextually-relevant and compassionate intervention that ripples out beyond the humans in the visit. As we discuss regularly in emails and team meetings, numbers and metrics are cool to discuss and breaking records produces "warm & fuzzy" moments. And, metrics/records are never and will never be the goal. Instead, they are reflections of our program's infinite values. This isn’t about visits, this is about moments; this isn’t about finances, this is about healing; this isn’t about records, this is about love; this isn’t about individuals, this is about an incredible, talented, and unrelenting team and community. And... still... we crushed our all-time records!!! Pumped to see what the rest of the year produces!!!

Congratulations Awaken. All the very best with your partnership with your new client Opal Healthcare. May I ask.....will you be balancing out your marketing strategy by including some feedback from Opal Healthcare's employees ? If you do, I would suggest you look up 'glassdoor', or 'seek', or 'indeed'. There are a substantial number of reviews relating to 'toxic' workplaces, 'bullying', and unaccountability by management. I personally think it is imperative that any prospective client of Opal Healthcare is fully informed on how some of Opal Healthcare's employees have been, and are still being treated. It is only fair. I know personally, that I would never ever give my business to a company who mistreats their employees. Prospective clients should be given the same choice. Be transparent with your marketing Awaken. Opal Healthcare promotes its values as 'compassion', 'accountability', 'respect', and 'excellence'. That is to the uninitiated. The many employees who have had their well-being compromised, tell a very different story. All the very best Awaken. Peter Hamhougias - Victims of Opal Healthcare Advocate.

UHN in Toronto moved from 4th to 3rd best hospital in the world, just behind #Mayoclinic and #clevelandclinic. What an amazing achievement… There are many insights that come to mind at the moment, but would like to share just one, which fills me with hope: I’ve been lucky enough to have worked for almost 10 years at 2 of the top 3 hospitals in the world (Mayo and UHN). Completely different organizations, mindset, processes, social/national circumstances, etc. Just completely different in almost any way. But both capable of achieving excellence at the highest level. Never think excellence is impossible! Let’s all do our best to contribute to the achievement of the highest possible level of excellence in our own environment! #medicine #medicina #excellence #excelencia #achievements #innovation #inovação #hardwork #team #trabalhoemequipe #esforço
UHN's Toronto General Hospital has climbed to third among the world's best hospitals in a global ranking from Newsweek magazine, its highest spot on the prestigious annual list! TGH's ranking behind only Mayo Clinic and Cleveland Clinic, both of the United States, makes it the top publicly-funded hospital in the world. "This recognition is only made possible because of the collective efforts of #TeamUHN – the dedicated staff, physicians, researchers, learners, philanthropists, Board members and volunteers who everyday are committed to our mission of building A Healthier World." I am enjoying the habit of boosting examples of leadership in action. Perhaps I should use it as a feature in the upcoming newsletter- Words can influence minds but actions build the future. Cheers to a brighter future in cancer care. Breaking News! Great news for Irvine & Santa Ana CA residents and oncology professionals. A new facility is coming to the southern CA region, bringing care options closer to home. Residents, healthcare leaders, and market stats all suggest that this is exactly what the area needs. For those living in the area, this means better options for care nearer to you, without having to drive over an hour for the type of doctor you need. Bringing top-notch care options closer to residents is critical to access and changes how many will experience treatment in the area. It means less cost to patients who travel out of town and pay for overnight stays. It means actually getting the care you deserve for those who are not able to overcome geographical and financial barriers to care in their region. For those working in rad-onc or planning to, and are from the area, you are getting a brand new facility as an option for your career. You can reconsider having to move away from your relatives to get the best job in your field. A trusted name and the best minds in the field are now in your backyard. This will drive oncology professionals to the region for better cost of living, housing, and research opportunities. Thank you to everyone involved in bringing care options closer to the southern CA region in Irvine. Let's celebrate better options for care and career opportunities for oncology workers. #Irvine #SantaAna #healthcare #oncology #careeropportunities #newfacility #healthcaretechnicalstaffing
Today, leaders from across the City of Hope system came together to launch the activation of our new and upcoming Irvine Hospital. It was a historic day as we plan for our second academic hospital in Southern California. Toward the end of the session leaders Annette Walker, Wendy Austin, Annette Morgan, M.B.A., Laura Grant, Dr. Ed Kim and I - took questions from the audience. At the start of the Q&A, there was silence for almost a minute as scores of leaders took their phones out and began taking pictures of the panel. Here is the moment Ed and I realized the audience was actually scanning the bar code above our heads in order to submit their questions - not taking a picture. Our influencer moment quickly evaporated! Thank you to all our leaders who participated. This will be an exceptional journey as we open a world class hospital in Irvine. Your talent, compassion and focus will lead to a place of healing like no other.
