It's 2,000 days until 2030! This is really not long to achieve the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals.
Arcadis has just released its Sustainable Cities Index 2024 which analyses 100 cities worldwide across four pillars—Planet, People, Progress, and Profit.
In Australia, Perth leads the ranking at 25, followed by Melbourne (32), Sydney (33), and Brisbane (38). Although the Australian cities are closely ranked, the value of this report is to reflect on Australian cities performance against their international competitors and to highlight that there is room for improvement.
Melbourne comes in at 32. Melbourne score's well in the People pillar and ok for Profit and Progress pillars, but like other Australian cities, the Planet pillar is Melbourne’s weak spot. Time for Australia to get on with the energy transition!
