Among other issues Vilnius Three Seas Summit and Business Forum is bringing to attention digital skills needs and gaps. The Three Seas Initiative’s digital pillar is only as strong as the talent pool in our region. Competence among the general population and access to ICT specialists is one of the key limiting factors affecting the growth of the digital economy in our countries. 🌍📚 Reflecting on a Productive Journey to Switzerland! I just wrapped up an insightful work trip to Switzerland, filled with both professional development and personal growth. One highlight of my trip was the opportunity to delve into children’s literature in German. Reading these books isn't just a pastime; it's a strategic method to improve my language skills. Immersing myself in a language through simple, engaging narratives helps solidify my understanding and fluency. It's a delightful and effective way to grasp the nuances of German. More importantly, this trip allowed me to connect with fellow founders of the TechnoLatinas civic NGO, Eva Navarro López and Michelle Díaz, women engineers and Techno Latinas! TechnoLatinas is an organization we created to empower women in technology across Latin America. Our discussion in Switzerland focused on how we can tailor technological solutions to fit the unique cultural and social contexts of Latin American communities. Why is this important? In regions like Latin America, integrating local culture into technology design is not just about customization—it's about creating technology that resonates with the end users. This approach ensures that technological advancements are accessible, relevant, and empowering for women, helping close the gender gap in tech sectors traditionally dominated by men. By understanding the local context, we can develop tools and platforms that truly support the advancement of women in technology, turning challenges into opportunities for innovation. I am thrilled about the future of TechnoLatinas and our impact on technology development in Latin America. This is my third talk at ReDI School of Digital Integration on my experiences of #networking in Germany and how important it is to connect to help move our career forward. I love doing these talks because I learn from other brave women who are pushing themselves to move into tech roles, and in a new country. 💪 So, how do you get people to care? Here are 6 things you need to have in mind to connect: 1. Be approachable and genuine by talking about things you are passionate about. 2. Ask open-ended questions (idea networking) to get into a conversation flow 3. Listen actively - learn when the person is not interested and you need to move on 4. Find common ground- topics that interest you both. 5. Don't be too pitchy - nobody like to feels used 6. Practice makes better, and you learn while listening to others. Last week, we had the privilege of attending the YASAD Software Industrialists Association's 2nd #Software Industry and #Globalization Summit🌟 The event showcased Türkiye's growing significance as a premier software hub both regionally and globally, attracting significant attention from international investors 🚀 Here are some key takeaways highlighting Türkiye's success: 🌱 Türkiye boasts a youthful and tech-savvy population, with 48% under the age of 30, fueling a vibrant tech ecosystem. 🎓 Each year, the country produces approximately 98,000 engineering graduates, with 35% being women, showcasing significant gender diversity in tech. 👩💻 By the end of 2023, Türkiye had 285,000 active developers, including 40,000 freelancers. As of early 2024, this number is nearing 300,000! 🌍 Over 70% of 400 Turkish founders with overseas startups maintain R&D and engineering teams in Türkiye, demonstrating the country's strong talent pool. As a result, Türkiye stands out as one of the largest markets in Eastern Europe and the Middle East in terms of both population and GDP 📈 With a population of 87 million, Türkiye is significantly large compared to Eastern Europe's 100 million and MENA's 500 million. Moreover, Türkiye's R&D expenditures account for 1.4% of its GDP, higher than Eastern Europe's 1.33% and MENA's 1.18% 📊 Türkiye's dynamic ecosystem and strategic positioning make it a key player in the global software industry 🚀🌍💻
