LinkedIn Friends & Network, I have some exciting news to share, but first a little story ... When I was in college, we made a visit to SAP headquarters in Walldorf as part of the MIS class at European Business School. The brochures were silver (‘Functions in Detail’), the #technology was moving to client/server, but my friends and I left with a feeling that SAP was just a tiny bit too traditional for us. Boys and girls, how wrong we were! Many years later, amid an SAP #transformation program (see, there is a magnetic quality to SAP and its #innovation), I kept passing SAP Walldorf on A5 thinking that it would be great to work there - and this became reality in 1998. So began my 26-year career with SAP which brought my family to the US for what was supposed to be a 2-year assignment. Here we are, 22 years later, dual citizens, and deeply rooted in our (still) new home country. Life is never linear. From the early days in Service & Support, my time in Global IT, various #CIO and North America roles to – most recently – leading Customer Advisory in North America, there is one constant that weaves all experiences together: SAP’s people. The friendships and deep connections with colleagues from all parts of the globe, the comradery and trust that is baked into SAP’s #culture are truly remarkable. Some of the most innovative and creative minds walk the halls of SAP offices (and its Teams meetings). Customers solve the most sophisticated business problems with SAP, and it is rewarding to be part of those journeys. Industry-defining leaders like Bill McDermott, Robert Enslin, Jennifer Morgan, Christian Klein and so many more have provided North Stars for strategy, growth, and personal development over all these years - h/t to Lloyd Adams, DJ Paoni, Oliver Bussmann. At some point, however, all journeys come to an end. At the beginning of the year, I decided that it is time to do something very different. I will stay on until beginning of April to help with the transition. More news to share on future plans after a long family and travel break. Don’t touch that dial 😊. I was a pandemic hire at SAP. And now, as I wind down my time at SAP, I’m reflecting with appreciation on how far we have come as a global company in such a short time. Together, we navigated a worldwide health crisis, a remote and hybrid work revolution, significant climate events, and a rapidly changing technological, geopolitical, and economic landscape. 🌍 Just as importantly, we celebrated our 50th anniversary as a company, with time spent reflecting on the early vision of standardized application software for our customers’ most critical business processes. Fast forward to now, infusing AI in all business processes—most recently with our generative AI assistant, Joule, to unlock intelligence across our entire solution portfolio in the easiest way, through natural language. Through it all, every day I have been inspired by 110,000+ SAP employees, my immediate team, customers, partners, alumni, and my fellow board members. We’ve worked hard to build a resilient business and an attractive, more equitable global workplace where people want to stay and share their talents. There are many reasons to be proud of our progress and accomplishments: from our M&A and divestitures work in People & Operations, to expanded learning resources, D&I, fair pay, social responsibility, thriving employee network groups, young talent development, meaningful benefits, partner development, and employee well-being.  All this hard work contributes to the reason why our customers have placed their trust and confidence in SAP for the long term. My SAP Journey: From a Conference Room to the World My first day with SAP was...interesting. We worked out of a conference room in a small building, eight miles away from Newtown Square. We did not even have our own desk. SAP soon announced that they'd bought land in Newtown Square and were building two new headquarters buildings. From then on, the biggest company news was always about the progress of our new home. We eventually moved into our beautiful new space and welcomed a new CEO. Those were exciting but uncertain times, with constant rumors that Microsoft might acquire SAP. Then, almost before we knew it, SAP had offices all over the US. We were too big and strong for an acquisition. My time at SAP has been incredibly varied. Different roles, different projects, different teams. My boss often said, "I could send May anywhere, at any time, work on any project." Hearing those words from my colleagues made me incredibly proud and drove me to work even harder. That led to travel all over the US, Europe, South America, Canada, and Asia. Over 200 nights a year in hotels – hard work, but I'm grateful for the investment SAP made in me, and the incredible experiences. One of the achievements I'm proudest of is that SAP always chose me as the team leader for critical missions. I never lost a negotiation or escalation, saving SAP money and legal trouble. In return, SAP gave me and my family a wonderful life and helped us realize our American dream. Thank you, SAP! I have taken the VERP (Volunteer Early Retirement Program). I've retired from "Tech" now. Here's the wisdom I want to leave you with: Dream big! You're the star of your own life, so give it your all and shine as brightly as you can. Good luck to all of you, and thank you for this chance to say a proper goodbye to my SAP career.

This week marks two years since I started at SAP and I couldn’t be more grateful I took a leap of faith by making the move. I had been at my previous company for 5 years, loved my coworkers, had a fantastic manager, and was exceeding quota. But- I was ready for something new. I’ve always wanted to partner with, strategize with, and challenge some of the largest organizations in the country to shape their business. On paper, I didn’t feel qualified. I lacked experience and knew there would be a huge learning curve that would be uncomfortable to overcome. Despite this, I was determined to succeed, and so I pushed myself outside my comfort zone while getting acclimated. A few things I’ve learned throughout the process… 1. Ask the “dumb” questions- nobody is judging you. 2. It’s okay to not know the answer. People respect transparency and would rather you admit not knowing and coming back to them once you do. 3. Stop associating being young in your field as a negative. I spent too long feeling inferior being the youngest in a room- when in reality, people appreciate a different perspective. You’re in the room for a reason- speak up! 4. Don’t be scared to reach out to someone (internally or externally) because of their title- we’re all just people. 5. Your time is valuable. Prioritize what’s important and say no to what isn’t. Thank you Kevin Moore for telling me this early on. ☺️ 6. Work is MUCH more fun when you’re genuinely friends with your coworkers and customers. This makes going to the office, business trips, and everything in between something to look forward to. Thank you SAP SuccessFactors for the opportunity.
